Koolertron For MERCEDES Benz S W220 (1998-2005)
To do so I would need to spend around £600 so its a non starter.
I then came across the
Koolertron For MERCEDES Benz S W220 (1998-2005) command upgrade units.
These are a much more modern set up than my old 2.5 command.
Looks like it ticks all the boxes (except for being able to use the CD cassette changer that sits in the boot).
Any of you guys fitted one of these as an upgrade ? Does it have any cons that out value the pros ?
Opinions much appreciated.
I purchased a pay as you go SIM card for the original Nokia 3110 handset.
All up and running now. Just needed to let friends and family know I have a Mercedes mobile as well as my cell phone for them to contact me on.
Simple solution and very cheap.
The USA have satellites in orbit, have landed man on the moon, and have the largest aircraft carrier fleet in the world.
If our good old little UK island across the pond can purchase SIM card old school technology.
I am sure your great country can too.
Sim cards fit under the batteries once removed. Later w220s used the 6 series Nokias.
My contacts once entered into the phone come up as named persons on the sat nav screen.
All the steering controls and voice command functions work perfectly.
Sure beats trying to purchase an expensive blue tooth cradle replacement.
And now I have my phone up and running the conventional way. I really cant see any point.

Cost me £10 with 75 minutes call time plus the ability to top up when you like and how much you like.
Of course I will use my i phone which is under contract and a cheaper way to make calls.
The Nokia in my Merc is a usefull backup though and gives me the original functionality of the in car command phone system.
Also if friends and family need to contact me they have two mobile options.
And it costs the same for the caller regardless of which mobile they ring.
