new pass.side mirror won't return back up after reverse

2001 s500…the mirror housings were both loose so… bought some new mirrors on ebay…. it's nice and tight now but the pass. side mirror now won't come back up after it dips on reverse…….

does it have to be reprogrammed at dealer or what ?
the manual mirror controls works fine on both sides….

Perhaps try the whole set up procedure from scratch. New components, bit off in tolerances, etc etc.

You don't have to use the dip option if you don't want. Personally I always back into my garage and never use that option.

Possibly you need to reset the computer since the tolerance is possibly off

Very easy to shut it off. On the driver's side door panel where the buttons that control the mirrors are located just push in the button for the driver's side mirror and leave it that way all the time and the reverse feature is deactivated. If you want to reactivate it just push in the button for the passenger side mirror.

Agree about re setting thats what I had to do after a mirror re place.
set your passenger side mirror to where you can see the kerb.
Then press M and press the down of the four way mirror adjuster within 3 seconds, job done.
Next time you start the car and put her in drive mirror will return to driving position.
By the way !!
Does anyone know if the mirror fold feature can be set to operate when you remote lock the car. mines a 2000 model and I can fold the mirrors using the manual buttons but not sure if I can set them up to auto fold
Thanks Guys and sorry for hijacking the thread.

Baldsparky there is an option in the cluster menu to have the mirrors fold in when using the remote or locking the car.

Sorry for being dumb but could you talk it through I cant find the option in the cluster menu, or in the manuals.
I read somewhere that it might not be available on pre 2001 models but not sure ??
