i know this an old thread, but 2 things:

1) thank you Skylaw post #12 in particular, but also everyone else for the detailed great info!!

2) for those still interested, like me buying a 2004 W220 S600 and wanting it to have the most recent NAV data possible.
V15 listed as for the 2004 E-class also works for 2004 W220 S-class. Pic of my COMAND in dash after inserting V15 disc and software loading attached, plus pics of the DVD case showing versions.

The same site previously mentioned (https://mb.navigation.com/home/en_US/MBNA/USD) works still, and still the S-class only shows support thru v10, but I searched for same year E-class as my S-class (ie, "2004 E-class" on their website, which has the same NAV DVD drive in the trunk as the 2004 S-class), and found the latest version is v15.0, and called the 2015/2016 update and the website lists as the "Final Release for this platform". I ordered it, put it in the NAV DVD slot in the trunk, turned on my radio, and selected Nav. It showed "Loading Software" on the screen for about 6 minutes, then just worked! I purchased my car without a DVD, so I don't know what has been in it before, but was thankful that was all it needed.

i do not have ETA at the bottom, and can still set destinations in motion. I will ask my indie shop if they have enabled that before I run the update for ETA at the bottom. Via the Info button is sufficient. There are probably other benefits, so I might update for those. But I definitely want to (a passenger) be able to set a destination while in motion.

Thanks for updating the old thread with current info. That disc will definitely work in the 2004 to 2006 S class. V15 was not yet released when I last posted to this thread.
