Someone swiped my mercedes hood star

First time I took my benz into the city and bang someone swipes and broke off my 3 point star off the hood, making a nice christmas ornament on someones tree. Looks like a clean break with no other major damage except that I will need to replace the piece.

Any idea on how difficult this is to replace and does anyone know the model number for w220? Is the best place to get this at performanceproducts.com?

They are not hard to replace. I bought the flat hood emblem from performance products to avoid the same problem you are experiencing. It was an easy install.

I hate low life people who go around an steal emblems. Anyway, I have the same incident 6 months ago. Someone tried to steal mine but couldn't do it, the star ended up being super loose and wobly. Anyways, you can just pick up a new star at any dealership. I paid like $26Cnd here in Canada, so it's not expensive at all. Also to replace the star it's really easy. You can do it yourself in less than 5 minutes.

Sorry to hear the bad news. Someone swiped mine too on my w202! B@stards.

Anyways, it's not difficult to install at all. Do you want to get the flat badge or the original stand up star? If you go for the original (stand up star), pop the hood and look directly underneath the star ornament. There should be two screws or nuts there. Loosen those up and the entire assembly just pops out and there you have it. Just install the star again, reverse directions.

If you go for the flat badge, I believe it's the same type of installation, removing the base from the hood or something very similar. Good luck, let us know the outcome!

I heard a while back, that in a town near by (Lake Forest) there was a meeting and all the Mercedes that were in the lot got their ornaments stolen. I guess they caught the kid who did it and he had to pay for it.

Mine was broken off as well. Lucky me, I have a spare one in the glove compartment for some reasonÉ My aunt had hers dislodged. It was sticking out of the hood and sloped. The steel line holding it in was bent. A few years ago, my parents christmas lights outside were stolen! Don`t these people just make you so angry. If I found the guy who did it, I WOULD WRING HIS NECK!!!!

Someone attempted to take mine several months ago. They managed to break the star where it wouldn't stand right, but failed to remove the star. Regardless I bought a new one from ebay for a very inexpensive price. Installation is simple, just open the hood and twist off the old star, twist in the new one. Of course I was upset, but in a way also relieved since no other damage was done and my hood star's never looked so good now that I got a new one. Haha.

Sorry to read about the theft (or thefts, since other members also got their hood stars stolen). Our star just got knocked loose, then we've had the valve stem caps stolen twice.

This is where a nice camera in the car would be nice.

that sucks someone stole the AMG caps off my dads car, why would someone want to steel your caps? I understand the star, well sort of, there is some logic but the AMG caps?
