Hello everyone!
I've been reading this forum for a while and I decided to register on it because i consider Mercedes the best car in the world.

This is my first post and I would like to start with a question. I live in Europe (Croatia) and i own an S500. The car is a dream come true, but it's top speed is limited on 250 kilometers per hour.
What I'm asking you is: what is it's REAL top speed in your opinion and where can I remove the limiter, and how much would it cost? Does Brabus do that? Thank you!

I didn`t know that the S500 had as 250km/h limiter. I thought it was limited to 220km/h. Hmm, maybe only the European models.

North American cars are 220KPH and ROW (rest of the world, well most) and AMG cars are 250KPH. I know ROW AMG cars can be raised to 300KPH at the factory with new software and 300KPH speedometer, etc. ROW dealers might be able to raise a non-AMG car as well.

Tuners can remove the limit as well but some problems have been reported with the non-MB computer programing.

MB's in America asre limited to 210 KPH and here in Europe they are limited to 250. I've just heard thet Carlsson has the limit removal, but I've also seen that Brabus has a treatment for S500 and it raises it to 6.1 engine with 640 HP. What do you think, how much does something like that cost?

All of the European car makes made like a deal or something to keep all of their cars coming to the US limited to 155mph.

Only a few of them like MB and BMW made the (self imposed) 250Kph agreement and it applies globally. However, you can go to the factory and have it (AMG cars certainly) raised to 300. Porsche, Ferrari and other super exotics do not impose the limits on themselves.

Wow 7 posts and no one has yet to answer his question...

MBlunatic: I'm guessing somewhere in the high 260 - low 270 region.

Oh, alright, thanks for correcting me. I do remember that MB, BMW, and Audi did it, not sure about the rest.

I think they do, but most likely it would just break down before reaching such speeds. :p (also j/k)

Oh, I'm glad we've never had one; I've just heard so many horrid stories and most included incredibly bad service from the dealer.
