FULL THROTTLE PROBLEM

OK here is my current mechanical problem:

My 2000 S430 almost killed me. ive had this car for 4-5 years never a problem with my idle but last Friday my car went full throttle on its own (in parking in neutral and in gear) and no one that I have spoken to knows anything about it, including 2 Veteran Mechanics from Mercedes Benz.

HELP!!!!

I changed the throttle body thinking this was the issue and NOPE it is still full throttle. HELP!!!

ALSO
I NEED TO KNOW THE PART NUMBERS FOR THE CONNECTING HOSES TO THE THROTTLE BODY.

I would take it straight to a Mercedes dealer , video tape it at full throttle in their service area and have the service manager call corporate to fix it free unless they want to have an unintended acceleration lawsuit on their hands

Btw it might just be a faulty pedal

The pedals in these cars are electronic and usually fail by poor acceleration but maybe yours failed at full acceleration

Did you try to diagnose the car..?, it will helps to narrow the issue,,

+1 with "tusabes" on acc. pedal, it's most common problem,,

also; MAF/CPS could cause the same symptom..!

ZAYED,,

A local guy parting an s430 is lending me the pedal to test it on my car. As you said i am knocking off possibilities. Tuesday my Mechanic will come over with his diagnosis star computer to tell me if there are any codes.

The way it happened: I was on my normal morning work comute and suddenly it felt like the car was on cruise control accelerating to a certain speed I noticed it right away as i was going uphill. I put in in neutral and engine reved all the way up so i pulled over turned car off and on like 3 or 4 times and on the 5th time i turned it on it idle normal again so i continued my comute when after 1 minute it was going full throttle again so i turned around and headed home fighting with the car to slow it down by pressing the brakes and turning off the ignition. It definitely a dangerous ride.

When you put it in neutral what rpms did it rev to? Was it past 4000 rpm? Also when the car is accelerating, does the brake pedal cut engine power?

I found the problem, it was the gas pedal apparently it went bad and it was full throttle. I got a used pedal and its not reving up like crazy anymore. i will change the hoses that i broke of from the throttle body and replace them with new one I purchased and give it a test drive, I am almost certain its fixed. Thank you for the advice.

You didnt have to pay out of pocket. This is just like a phone catching fire, i'm sure MB will be happy to fix for free.

Well he probably didnt pay much as it was a used pedal

But yes , car makers are scared to death of unintended acceleration and would pay big $$ to get that pedal off the road

Id put the video you took on YouTube along with the defective pedal and see what class action attorney wants to sue mb

This 'un-intended acceleration' event is not only dangerous, it will eventually blow the engine. There are several components/computers that could cause this, but they all (almost?) have built-it 'safety features' designed to 'fault' to limp-in mode or idle only. It SHOULD be easy to find using STAR, and fix it. It seems certain SOMETHING is commanding the electronic throttle to fully open. Starting with the accelerator pedal assembly, a two circuit switch--- one circuit signaling to open and how far, the other separately measuring how far it IS open, and if they differ--fault to idle.
