Mercedes Benz S500 W220 2000
Exclamation Mercedes benz s500 w220 2000

Hello I have a problem with my s500. Its been sitting outside for the past year and a half. The problems started in January 2014 when i sent it too get repainted. When the car was done and i came to collect it, the throttle didnt work. When i accelerated nothing happened so i towed the car to a mercedes dealership where they put it on the computer and found that the throttle was stuck. i fixed the problem quite cheap, i cleaned it and it worked.

When i got the car home i noticed that it had lowered itself to the ground. So i went in to the engine compartment an found two loose cables that should of been solded on something. I dont know how that part looks like but i suspect that that is the problem. After sitting outside for a year and a half ( it was always keept in a garage before ) The car suddenly wouldnt start. I have tried almost everything but nothing seems to work. Im out of options im gonna try one last thing. Im gonna buy every computer from another s500 and replace them. I would really appreciate if someone could help me.

What likely happened is your car got water damaged from sitting outside . If you have comprehensive coverage on your insurancE Make a claim , otherwise make a claim on the shops garage keepers insurance before you do any repairs

Very common issue on these cars

Hi tusabes

Thank you for your reply

A few weeks ago i took out the tcm and a few other computers, I opened them up and i saw that they were fried, full of water. Isnt it too late to claim it from the insurance, its been a year and a half since i collected the car.

If you look on one of the pictures theres two wires that should of been solded on something, do you possibly know what that part looks like? The wires comes from the airmatic pump.

I have 4 years to make a claim on my policy , esp if you just discovered the water damage. other policies are written differently and it looks like you are outside the USA so you'll need to check

You can also make a claim against the repair shop where it got water damaged , if you are within the time to sue them their policy should cover it

Yes im actually from Sweden. Theres a five hour diffrence between our timezones thats why it takes so long for me to reply. When i got the car home it started but after sitting outside in the rain for the past year it stopped doing anything when i crank. But the weird thing is all the electrics still work. Im gonna try and call my insurance tommorow and see what can be done. When i got the car i noticed two wires that were loose coming from the airpump and i feel that if i come in to the shopkeeper and accuse him of taking the part thats missing he will laugh at me because i have no evidence so im in a dilemma.

Just curious, why did it sit there for a year and a half?

If you look at the pictures you will see that it cant be transported because you cant turn the wheels, so if i tried to tow it i would probably screw up the whole front end of my car.

Great looking car. It certainly looks worth fixing. Love the wheels.

I am a bit confused on those wires. You say they come from the airmatic pump which explains why you car is sitting so low. Are there wires connected to the pump? You could look at a wiring diagram of the car and find out where those connect. I remember seeing some wiring diagrams on this forum.

I tend to agree with Iganski about the wires. If you can find either a wiring diagram or someone with a similar car it might help you find out where those wires go.

There's two connectors going to the airmatic pump, one is for power one is a sensor. Both are dual wire connectors, but one off the connectors have thick wires, 12 awg?

Thanks bobby

I went to the scrapyard today and found an S class so i tried to trace were the wire came from but it went under the windshield. I pulled out the wire and it was solded on something just like my wire was. Could somebody send me a link to the diagram i would really appreciate it

You should subscribe to startekinfo. http://epc.startekinfo.com/epc/login.jsp

Once you put in your VIN number it will provide all the parts for your particular car. In the USA there is no charge for this service. They will ask you for a credit card number but your card will not be charged. I don't know how it works in other countries outside the USA.

I always go here first when looking for parts because that way I'm assured of getting the correct part number.

Once you are in startekinfo I would look under electrical systems.

It only works in the US so i cant subsribe. But im gonna try and confront the shopkeeper tommorow, and go through his insurance.

I still wonder what that cable was solded on to because it has to be one positive and one negative. It just goes under the windshield.
I think i know why they pulled out my cable, they probably tried to jump it but it started to burn so the pulled out the cable.
