i actually got mine installed at autowerks in san diego but i got a 20% discount on the lights....
where are you? you need to make sure that the internal mod on the assembly is done so that you will have autoleveing feature maintained....
randall at autowerks is all over that.... they done mx cars....

'04 lights in MD

I'm in maryland too -

I ordered the lights from www.performanceproducts.com for $2,000 (a couple hundred off full price) and Herb Gordon Mercedes in Silver Spring put them in for $400. Auto-leveling and everything works perfectly. I've heard that it should only cost $300 to install them, so try to work that out with the dealer before you do it.

light mod

that's a good price on the lights... $1K /side is best i heard....

did they do the internal mod. to make it work with your car or did the dealer do it?
also, did your dealer have the wiring harness for the 04 lamps?
i hear that the dealer does not currently have a single harness, that you have to buy the entilre wire/and connector harness together....
i currently have mine done with 4 retaining clips to hold the wires in the light assembly.... the shop ordered just the harness from germany but it will be a few weeks.....

Since my car is an '01, that means I have to get the Halogen headlights, right? My understanding is the Xenons only go on the '03 and up S class.
Please clarify.
Thanks

lights

mine is 01 and i had xenons already...
i thought all 03 an 04s were bexenons...maybe halogen was still the standard...
if you didn't have xenons to start with, you may need additional hardware....
ask randall at autowerksexpress.com

jjrho,
performanceproducts provided everything, including the "adapter device" (I don't know exactly what it was, but it came with the lights). The dealer simply connected everything. The guy to talk to at performanceproducts is RICHARD.

Naija,
I had xenons and I got the '04 Bixenons, so no, you don't have to get the halogens.

I have almost brand new 2004 Bi-xenon for sale they are direct fit to all w220 pre 2003. I did the installation by myself for 20 minutes no need to remove the front bumper.

Steve...help these guys out.....

2,000 for lights is WAY too much for lights....but $400 to install WITH the leveling feature??????? I heard it was $5,000 for THAT install because the sensors need to be added to the front and rear of the car, lots of labor, etc.

Now installing the headlights is plug and play apparently with 2 hours work yourself.....simply have MB dealer activate on ANY car (year 2000 or greater) to recognize Xenon....otherwise the bulbs will flicker on and off and you may get a bulb out warning.

I want to hear more about the $400 install with active headlights...the ones sold are the same model...but the sensor mounting becomes ultra hard and expensive.......

not even $400, it is very easy DIY.

pre-2003 s-class which has factory xenon the leveling function from 04 headlights r plug n play. If the car has non-xenon factory they need sensors at front n rear control arm coz all halogen car dont have self-leveling feature.

so whoever own pre-03 with halogen FORGET the leveling thing, just leave the sensor plug disconnected. adjust the beam using screwdriver.

Speaking of adjusting the headlights manually, does any one if you can adjust the beam left and right? I have a 2003 S430 that did not come with Bi-Xenon. So I bought an aftermarket HID kit and installed it myselft. I was able to adjust the beam down (so it won't be too much glare), but the beam seems to be spreading way too much to the side, and not enought straigth ahead.

Thanks in advance.
