You would need EIS and keys. Selector lever. Engine ECU. And 722.9 plate. And from same year model. Problem with that is you would not be able to order any new keys from MB. Also not sure if later w220 models the intrument cluster could also be part of drive authorisation. I would not go this route. I would fix the problem you have. Hook it to star look at actual values in gearbox. Start function. Does the gearbox see park? Also with 722.9 you need to learn selector position.

I saw a package that came with the ignition, shifter, ecu and two keys and what if I virginize the conductor plate and have it reprogrammed with the "new" parts in will that work?

As long as your kit came out of a car with 722.9 gearbox. Who's is going to make it virgin for you? Why not just get a second hand shifter and make that virgin. If MB have diagnosed that as being faulty

Ok. Will all this effort and expense be cheaper than buying a new shifter?

If you keep the metal key that you have now, is there any reason to change all of the locks?

Does it matter if I get a NEW shifter with the Keyless Go feature even though my car originally doesn't have that feature? Or will the shifter work anyway and I just won't be able to use Keyless Go?

Both versions should work. It's only an additional switch for keyless go

Ok good to know cause I'd rather pay $600 for a new shifter than pay $1,480

did the $560 matched set of used parts not work for you?

The best option is still the eBay $350 matched set of used parts from the same model year car

I didn't try it out if I can get a brand new shifter for $600 and that's all I need to change I guess I would rather do that that way if I ever do lose my key I can still go get another one Plus somebody said that I might have to either flash or switch the conductor plate as well so everything matches and I would possibly need the cluster so I would rather not take the risk just purchased the shifter only that claims to be brand new and is being bought through PayPal so I know I can get my money back

A brand new shifter still needs to be programmed to the car , you can't just swap it in and expect it to work .

The only thing you can swap in is the 4 items mentioned numerous times , as a matched set, or repair your old part. Anything else will need programming

I know it still needs to be programmed but I can put it in myself and save $600 of labor charges and it would still for sure work vs if I get that package deal for $560 and it ends up being that I need the conductor plate and the cluster for it to work anyway
