Dealer Service B and engine air filters
#52
The unit its stuck to is the power supply / controller / inverter for the two ignition coils.
Its one of the things that fail sometimes, and are difficult to troubleshoot (part of the reason people pedal horror stories about maintenance costs). Anyway, there are better ways now.
If you're serious about looking after your S, consider getting an MB STAR diagnostics system. At least get an ODB2 code reader.

I had hard time with removing the oil filter and I have to cut it open. Looked like the wrong filter was used and in effect no filter. How much trouble I'm in?
#55
Well, in theory it was still filtering, just not as well since a lot of the flow(but not all of it) was going around it. I'd swap it out and forget about it. Did the oil coming out look normal for the mileage?

Very black. Here are more pictures of the filter. A gap of about 1in at the end in the first picture. That's the height differences between the V8 and V12. Do you think it's Ok? I didn't thought of it before but unless we do the works ourselves, these things going to happen and it's going to be unknown to lots of folk.

My list of issues is getting shorter. Replaced gas filter, carbon filters, cabin filters, oil filter. Washed and conditioned engine air filters.
1. Oily dirty engine needs a wash: successfully washed with these steps: disconnected battery, wait for engine to be cold, cover all open ports with foil, spray engine degreaser, blast the dirt with high pressure hose, use garden blower to dry off, use compressed air to blow off water from hard reached area, sun bathe for 1 day at 90deg, use bright flash light to check for dryness, reconnect the battery. (Disclaimer: do it at your own risk)
2. Power lift trunk won't open. Parts ordered a week ago from FCP but haven't arrived.
3. AC blows hot air for rear passenger area if not in LO setting. Still haven't able to locate the sensor.
4. Soft close doesn't work for front passenger door. Vacuum noise after reconnect the battery. Look like the fail is at the door.
5. Check engine light on. Went away after the oil and filter change.
6. Intermittent SRS errors. Went away with CRC electronic cleaner.
7. Too much wears on the fabric of driver side pillar. Trying to locate part number to order a new one.
8. Broken rear driver curtain guide. Fixed with cut screws DIY.
9. Homelink programming. Got it to work after a week of trying. The trick is to place the transmitter between the windshield and the mirror.

Kyle,
Can you help with the following parts for a S600 2005? VIN# is WDBNG76J55A455534
1. Black suede pillar on the driver side. It should go on #3
2. Black passenger rear seat cover. Is it #2 or goes on top of #2?
3. Screen mesh for #1 and #2
4. Hose lines? In the engine picture. The black outer shelf are gone and exposed yellow hose. I think they are air hose. Will need hose, clamps and clamp tool.
5. Windshield washer lid. A 124 869 00 72. AZ got this part but I rather go with one order.
Thanks

- Black Suede pillar on drivers side 22069031409C08
- Cover for Seat Bottom, passenger side 22092030619C05
- Not Certain if you are referring to the air filters in the airboxes
- Work in progress
- New number is 2218690072
Admittedly, the majority of these items are not in stock or on the website however they can be added. In reference to number 3 I need some feedback from you and number 4 I should have for you in the afternoon.

DRDoe, number 5 in your list is probably the door lock ACTUATOR. That is usually the first one to go.
