When's the new body style comming?

Is it this year?

I'm getting ready to commit to getting a 2001 S class but if the new one are comming in a few months I probably should wait...

So any dates? pics?

Thanks!

You should try searching first before making threads.

The new model probably will come out as a 06 or 07 model.

I am pretty sure its an 06 model, though myself I wish the W220 was staying until MY07. I dont really want to see a mercedes with column shifter and MBs I-DRIVE of their own. Though who knows maybe it will be really great, but I am skeptical right now. I hate column shifters!!!

I think MBs in 40s had column shifter. I think it's cool, and you have a lot of free space for cap holder.

As it may show in those spy pics (I don't think there have been recent updates of spy shots for a while now), maybe it'll change or just not even be true. Some spy shots have been known to be wrong

Just hope in this case

W220 - the last design made by Bruno Sacco and it is near to perfect style/character/feel combo...

Looking at the trend of ugliness new BMW 7 & 5 series as well as a trend of MB CLS direction makes me feel sad

Well I wouldn't go that far. The current S class looks wimpy compared to the Lexus and W140. Almost looks like a refined acura, exterior wise.

IMO, the w140 was a great looking car, but on the boxy side. I think the w220 is a elegant, classy and refined look over the w140

w126 > w140 (for me anyway) Just don't like something about the w140, not sure what though. W220's are fine looking cars, especially with the sport package.

RE: W140 & W220 - both are great designs with completely different characters. I do like W140, but I must admit that I fell in love with W220 first time I saw it (back in '99).

Should also disagree about Lexus styling...
IMHO - Lexus/Toyota's designers (regardless of the car quality/durability) have no taste what so ever...
Look at new LS430, for example... All design lines are copied from leading European car manufacturers, and the result - unnoticable car with no charachter of its own...

I do not wish to start a MB/Lex war here - just my opinion on design issues...
