W220 2003 s500 transmission leak gear shift bushing

Im looking for some help with an oil leak on my 722.6 transmission at the gear shift bushing. The car is a 2003 s500. The rubber bushing for the gear selector rod right next to the transmission is missing not the one directly under the shift knob. There is a loud clunk every time I select gears because it's missing. I was going to buy the special tool to install the bushing but I'm not sure if it will fit in the tight space. There are no videos or any advice that I can find about how to remove it. I have a pretty good idea of what to do but I'm trying to find out if I can replace the bushing with the transmission on the car. Is there anybody who's done this before with a w220 that knows how to replace the leaking bushing/seal and selector rod bushing?
