Hey guys, new to the forum in terms of posting, though I have used the forum as a priceless tool for more than a year. Finally got my (dad's car, my baby) S500 today.

Tectite Grey/Charcoal (Chestnut trim) lightwood really sets it off nicely.

*317 Comfort package with dynamic seats
*318 Trim Package
*321 AMG sport package
*Active body control
*Distronic
*Electronic trunk closer
*CD changer
*Keyless go
*Parktronic
*Voice Control

*Window Tint
*Chrome AMG thinspoke wheels
*Borla Exhaust with genuine AMG tips (resonator back... stock pipe, did not upgrade to a 3" catback system)
*Smoked Taillights and smoked yellow side markers on the front fender.

This car is just awesome. I will take pics tomorrow and post them. The new 7 speed is a lot better then the 01' 5 speed. The first gear is a lot stronger.

Can anyone recommend any additional modifications? The car is a 39-month lease (started last Tuesday). I was thinking about a chip and K&N filters. (Power Chip and K&N filters). I really would love to hear your input. Also with the Power Chip, it looks like I would get the Gold 93, what kind of octane booster should I buy, and how much of it would I be using? Or is regular 91 octane premium fuel ok?

Thanks,
Alex

just wondering, how much does it lease for in "general"?
I mean how much do ppl pay a month for this? and is it a lot more expensive than paying it off straight away?

The car's lease is 1,689 a month, about 12,5XX to drive off, and 18,000 miles a year. From the financing options i saw, it was more expensive to finance the vehicle for 60 months. I'm guessing because of the price difference people probably pay around 13,XX a month, that was what my dad paid for his last S, in which he borrowed around 80 for financing. (O1' S500)

CONGRATS!!!!
I'm in total awe!!! Your car is just a beauty!!! I never saw Tectite Gray on a car, but your's is just great!!! Just curious, for about $5-10K more, couldn't you have gotten a S55 or possibly, S600? Either way, that is one EXPENSIVE and BEAUTIFUL S500. I think that you could have done better on leasing the vehicle. Your deal was good, but it could have been a little better. Anyways, enjoy your S500!!! In regards to you leasing and modding, do you plan on buying it when the lease ends? CONGRATS!!!!

Hey Tyler(mind if I call you that?),

The S500 is a beautiful car, it's just that it has had so many electrical problems, noises, radio problems, it was getting too tough for her to go to the dealership every other week. Since she has kids and a practice that's flourshing by the grace of god, she couldn't find the time. She was probably going to get a CL or S if it hadn't been for the fact that one of her friends bought a new 7 series, that wasn't the only reason, my dad was pushing her to replace the S, also, the time she spent at the service shop, cost her many patients. My mom is delaying getting a 760Li, maybe she's thinking it's not all that good as she thought it was gonna be. My dad really wants her to get the new Bentley GT. Since, I love Porsche, Lexus, Audi, I want her to get either a 996 Turbo, A8, or LS430. But, I'm getting this funny feeling everytime I talk to her, that she has the intention of getting a new S600, or possibly a S65, if the price is right.

I'm hoping that she either gets another S or any of the other vehicles I mentioned earlier. We have had no problems with our CLK, nor our previous SL500 or current SL55.

My mom is an Ob/Gyn and she has one office. She's thinking about buying a second if she can afford another practice. Both of my parent's own two apartment complex'.

You will be extremely happy with the S500. It's a damn fine car. I guess we got a lemon....

hey you guys, the post has taken off! The smoked tail lights and exhaust were done at STI Motorsports in culver city. If you guys have any work done there, let me know, and tell the owner Alex Huf with the S500 reffered you. Great place to do work.

HEADlights are NOT smoked though, just for the record.

As per the discussion about it being a lease.
Smoked lights (tail and side marker) = 340
Exhuast = 2700
Rims = 800 (chrome switch)
tint = 250

$4100 spent on a 39 month lease doesn't seem that bad. Now if i added 5k wheels, 11k superchargers, haha etc etc... then i'm truly stupid.

The car will not be purchased after lease is up. I think thats enough time for the new body style to work out some kinks.

Per the question about getting the S55. There are 20k of options on the car, given some of them are standard on the S55, not all of them are. The S55 would have been VERY expensive however with everything i wanted. S500 is enough for me.

I think that answers all the questions. If any of you want high res pictures let me know. Today was an excellent day to photograph, the lighting was just great and the car, well... the car it behaved quite well.

Trust me I’d love the S55, i can handle that beast. However, for now, just letting the exhaust break in, and enjoying what 302 horse from a 5.0 engine can sound like. I've been on these forums for years, seeing so many amazing cars, i ordered this car so that i could truly enjoy it, and i wanted it to be one of a kind. In Los Angeles, there are 10,000 S500's, and it's so common i started to doubt getting one.

Oh yea for the record, this is NOT my car, I’d just like to think it was. My dad is the owner, he just said, "Do what you want, add what you want, I’ll be driving it, you F**K it up in any way, you make it obnoxious and I’ll kill you, now have fun"

Now my dad is worried about it standing out too much.

No license plate, tinted front windows, and smoked out tail lights... AKA "COPS please pull me over on your bad day!"

lol, im sure you will get so much time behind the wheel, just send him off for a nice vacation. then cancel his plane tickets when he gets there ok thats something i would do to my parents. Are there really 10,000 S500's in LA, where did u get that number from?

I see 25 without really trying to count just on the way to school. (15 minute drive) there are ALOT in Los Angeles.

So besides this being a lease, would anyone suggest doing anything else to the car to make it better? I don't want to step away from it being classy, i really love the comment:
