Wondering if anyone has done the interior LED upgrade. I just read the following post and considering getting it. I would like to do the footwell ambient lighting in blue though, curious if people are getting the kits or bulbs stand alone. http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w220...-interior.html
I got a set of 'error free' interior lights- map, puddle, interior, glove box, trunk, license plate, etc. The trunk ones would flash, I wound up putting the old bulbs back in, all the others work perfectly! MUCH brighter!
I got them 8 months ago and still work fine with no issues to this day. They even send me a new pair when my license lights started flickering. Only problem is getting the two bulbs inside the rearview mirror out. I have never been able to get those out to this day, but the rest is very easy to install and looks great.
Thanks all. I 've seen those when I was searching around. I will get them.
Do they come with the Ambient lights under dash/rear legroom? Doesn't look like it. I would like to replace those as well but curious what size they are.
You can't change those. Those footwell lights are some type of weird unreplaceable LED that Mercedes used and only way you can change it is if you solder in a new bulb.
Hi All, I just received the LED Kit and installed it. Took me about 20/30 min or so. I needed needle nose pliers to install the Rear View Mirror Map lights but over all, it went as smooth as butter. I was extra careful popping off covers as it was 20 degrees out today, thankfully didn't break any plastic.
Note: I used a plastic interior tool vs screw driver. Few of the lights I had to rotate to get to work.
I also kept my hands clean around the grey headliner.
What type of needle nose pliers did you use to get those mirror lights out? I was afraid to use those since I felt like it would shatter the bulb and get stuck in the housing, so I left those alone. It's really bothering me that my entire interior is LED except for those two bulbs, hah.

Thanks for the tip. I just bought a full set of interior LEDs for mine. I really don't like incandescent lights.
A bit rash, but I also bought a pair of H7 high beam headlamp LED bulbs as well. Mine has HID's, but man beam are halogen, and I'd really like them to look the same.
LED headlamps are bit a minefield, there are so many ways to get them wrong, so I'm a bit apprehensive about those.

Looks really nice!
Were you able to change the ones by the foot-well?? Thanks

Not yet BUT I'm working on this and will keep you guy posted.
NOTE: I just noticed my trunk lights didn't work. I removed the Trunk LED and put the bulb back and the 2 trunk lights started working. I believe the Trunk Lid LED is not long enough to plug into (investigating).

That has been my experience in the past with them. They work and then they stop...Some are shorter than stock and some are longer. My last draw was the license plate ones. They were a hair shorter and every time my trunk would close they would move. Then they started giving me errors even though they stated Error Free. That drove me crazy. Bought another set from a different seller and those were too long where I couldn't pop them in place. At that point I gave up and went back to oem's.

License plate ones were lose but they do have a clip when you snap them in. So far they have been on with 10+ trunk closures.
So far so good, like I said I left one OEM bulb in the trunk lid. Tonight I brought some shopping back and the 2 LED lights on the trunk were nice and bright.
I jinxed myself. Plate error light is coming on regular basis hehe. So far I'm just ignoring it.
Update on the Ambient LIghts. I simply cut the cord and spliced the wires to LED Blue lights I got on Ebay. NOTE: I did cut them so that I can splice them and put them back if I want (simply left .5-1 inch of cable before the bulb).
Ones under the dash I did not use the glass cover for, they simply clicked in (cannot see it anyways). These lights came with sticky tape on back but I didn't use it. The lights in the back I simply tucked them behind the glass light cover.
End result is nice, it's not too bright to make the whole interior glow BUT it's not really ambient either. Kind of bright. My custom mod do address this issue is simply applying electrical tape over a row of LED lights and get to a point where it looks nice.
Kids love it, they say my car feels like a night club. Brightness is too "juvenile" for my taste so I need to start taping hehe.
I have these & they are fantastic just a straight swap out for the standard fit bulbs, no cutting of wires etc just take one out & put the LED bulb in, an hour to do every one, but don't know if they ship to the USA.
So doni01 and I noticed that License plate bulb contacts metal on metal in the housing as the bulb is pretty wide. I figured I would simply cover the side metal of the bulbs with some electrical tape and just installed it on my car, so far no errors, I will give it a week and report back.
NOTE: When installing the bulbs, clip them into the housing rather than the clear plastic cover, then snap the clear plastic lens in and screw it in. This way you can position the bulbs properly without it falling out or rotating as the clear housing doesn't really hold the bulb well (it's meant to be temporary).

Nick
I really like LEDs.
I've been using LED licence plate lamps for years, and love the clean, bright, white light (and they help to illuminate the ground when you back up!).
I now use a very bright, rechargeable LED head torch, which gives me daylight outside all night. Never have to stop working. Brilliant.
Now, I've also fitted the H7 LEDs in my main beam lights, with some apprehension. The beam pattern isn't great, but it's OK for main beam, and it's about the same colour as the HIDs, and brighter, which is great.
Everyone went mad replacing halogens with after-market HIDs, and now its LED's instead, and they're getting cheaper and brighter and smaller all the time.
So an idea occurred to me. Can you replace HID's with LEDs? My HIDs are quite good, but they're not great - nice sharp beam pattern, but not especially bright. I looked up the manual and saw the bulbs are 35W D2S bulbs, like a lot of cars. I never ever looked around to buy D2S bulbs before, but they seem to be common, readily available, and not expensive. In fact, they're not so different in terms of form-fit-function to other bulbs; they just run off high voltage ( which comes from 12V of course).
And it turns out that the difference between, say an H11 LED bulb and a D2S LED bulb is quite hard to see. Here's a good example, where the "bulb" is long and thin and the LED's are very small - close to halogen or HID size, which I hope might give a good beam pattern. I'm getting very tempted...
