I owned a 2004 S500 some time back and miss it. Found a 2006 for sale locally in the desired color combo, I have not seen the vehicle in person yet but the seller says ABC was not an option for the final year production cars? BS or truth?

I presume the seller's car has Airmatic and you (wisely) want ABC?

I don't know the answer for certain, but it seems unlikely to me, considering that MB continued to offer it as standard/option on equivalent W221 models.

What motive does the seller have for telling the truth? Did they buy the car new? Maybe they have marketing and pricing information going back to 2006?

While I have learned to never say never regarding MB options on the W220, I don't think the ABC was an option on any model year for the W220 S500.

Edit: Apparently, I was wrong (yet again!) - ABC was apparently an expensive and rare option on any of the models where Airmatic was standard...

I agree with Nick, no reason for it not to be. It has been an option on all 220's apart from 55, 600 and 65's where its standard (And 600 guard versions)

I believe that ABC was only fitted to V8 and V12 gas engines. It was never fitted to the V6 gas engines that were popular in Europe. I don't know about any of the diesel engines.

I have an old price list for the 2004 models, and the ABC option wasn't that expensive - GBP 2200 if I recall correctly. If I were buying a new car, that would be a no-brainer. I think that Active Curve Control on the GLE & GLS is more expensive.
