Instrument cluster tech question
I recently had my MY00 s430 instrument cluster replaced under warranty with a MY04 cluster. As a result I no longer have a screen for gas tank content. I asked the service department and they say it is a feature that is no longer available on current w220 sedans. Anyone out there know if this is true?

I think this is being removed from newer cars, but I am not sure.
Do you still have use of your steering wheel controls?

Of course, this was done by the dealer under warranty.

I'm having fuel gauge problems (I posted a little while on this) where it drops about a 1/4 " after driving for a few minutes right after filling up. I'm looking at the readout in the MFD and the gallon's drop by a little bit, normal i guess. Then the fuel gauge will start moving up again...which isn't normal.
So I'm guessing it's the fuel sending unit, but if they have to replace the cluster with a updated one, then I won't have that fuel tank readout anymore with the fuel left/miles left/MPG/etc?

I have replaced IC under warranty about a month ago and still have gas tank content screen as usual.
Yet I gained that missing digital speed redout

Yes, if you have a newer cluster the tank content is no longer available. It may simply be in the programming however.
I know my 2001 had this option and my 2003 does not.
