Loud cracking sound when opening/closing the door
Hi there.
My driver's door makes a very loud cracking sound when opening and closing it. I haven't found any solution yet because it's not the typical squeaking/creaking sound that you would fix with some kind of lubricant (I tried). I asked the opinion of a mechanic and his only answer was "It's something inside the door", so I'm clueless.
Here's what I'm talking about : https://youtu.be/gRquJ6muGeU
It doesn't sound very loud on the video, but I could easily wake up my neighbourhood when I get home at night. (Fortunately no one complained yet)
Has anyone any clue about what it can be ?

One of the most common causes for this type of noise is the door check assembly - the flat, black rod from the front edge of the door to the frame at the door opening. So far, my attempts to cure the noise with lubricant have been failures, and replacement was the only repair that worked.

Oh I see ! It would make sense if that is the faulty part because I unbolted it once to try to locate the problem and the door stopped cracking but didn't hold. Do you have to open the interior of the door to replace the strap ?

And yeah it's pretty much worth it since it's kind of embarassing to get out of your car when the door makes such a noise.

Did any of you guys opened the thing up after having replaced it with a new one and checked how that mechanism works. I hate replacing parts that simply need a service, It sounds like spring loaded restrainers which have dampers which are gone soft and a insertion of a rubber nay simply "Revitalize" the dampers.

I didn't tear into the one I replaced recently, but a quick visual didn't reveal any obvious problems. Threw it out and went on with life. Think I spent $21 on a knockoff amazon part, no issues yet
