What are S600 known issues?
I always wanted a MB and started drooling over the 55AMG's a few years ago then stumbled unto the S600's since I always wanted a V12.
Now with any older (almost 16 years) car I expect there will be issues especially on a high end car of this stature. I want to know coming in what are some of the known issues whether its in the design, maintenance or repairs of this automobile so I can be prepared.
What little I do know is the ABC suspension will develop expensive issues if maintenance isn't kept up. Some maintain/repair while others install coil overs to replace the ABC system.
What I would like to know about is the other parts of the car and especially the drivetrain? Any issues with engine/turbos or transmission (or rear differential) since they produce a lot of power?
What about interior options or accessories?
Thanks

Both the S600 and S65 have two areas that usually wind up costing: the ABC suspension and the coil packs. ABC is a great suspension but it has valve blocks and hoses that need regular repair or replacement, and the system pump is another common offender. The coil packs are common failures as well.
Know that maintenance can be expensive. The S65 front rotors are pricey, but should last over 50K miles and you can imagine the cost of replacing 24 spark plugs. But what a drive!

But coils are easily done if you use this guy (Clark is a great help and a great resource): http://www.v12icpack.com/
ABC valve blocks can be rebuilt for about $50 in parts. Hoses can be done by your local hydraulic shop. Flushing the system regularly keeps the problems down. Inspect it carefully every year, and repair hoses when they show signs of deterioration.
If you keep after them, fixing as they shows signs of needing it, they are reliable, durable cars.
And - yes - V-12. Smooth, powerful, sweet. SO worth it!
