Max speed in a S600

Not mine
Get a tune, and have them change it for you. Mine is at a nice safe 199.
Never want the boys in blue to see 2 as my first digit
PS: Eurocharge for the win

Not so sure about the 155...Many of the cars for America were limited to 130 due to tires. The German models are 155 but just wouldn't guarantee it is that high on the American version. I have seen the specs for the TT at: Sub 5 seconds 0-60 and a top speed of 186

Although what you say is true/fact about MANY USA cars, I can assure you my STOCK S600 would do well north of 130MPH. Never did hit the top aka 155 stock, but It did see north of the 130, in Mexico of course.

Hence the "many" not "all" part As a pure mental exercise though unless you intend on actually testing the limiter just go with the published top speed of 186 (unmodified) and a 0-60 of <5 seconds and about a 13 second quarter mile when your friends ask. Obviously I am not talking about AMG or Brabus before I get people screaming at me.

PS: My 0-60 best is 3.91 by the way 4.0's are common now.
And I do apprecieate your Many not ALL comment

2004 S600
well my 2004 v12tt s600 was limited to 130 , i tried repeated times to go in excess and got to 134 but that was down hill with a tailwind. then i got a service provider to try and remove the limiter with th mercedes star system software but that never worked so i finally got a kleeman ecu and tcu tune and the sprint turbo booster, to minimize the drive by wire throttle lag , and i turned a fast car into a really really fast car , . since my speedometer stops at 160 i dont know how fast i can go , but i know its a lot faster than 160.

The Mercedes internal maintenance documents show that a stock S600 can do 305 km/h (191 mph) if the limiter is turned off (software). That seems a bit high, but then, who wants to argue with them.

This is the stock acceleration to 255 km/h (159 mph) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sCSaHPkQNDU
European tunes are often limited to 300 km/h due to tire limitations (V tire limit). Even S65 that can go faster are factory limited to 300.
With a tune and no limiter a S600 will exceed 200 mph

I have the following two details second hand and do not know if they are correct.
1. Two reverse gears; Reverse Ratios 3.16 and 1.95 (Comfort Mode)
2. Acceleration to 50 mph about 5 seconds.
If the second reverse gear ratio is correct and given that the final gear ratio is 2.65, the overall ratio is 5.17. In that case you can get to 90 mph at 5900 revs. I wonder if the revs are limited though. If the revs are limited to 4000 rpm then the top speed would be 61 mph in reverse. This ignores slip and transmission train losses.

It would be nice if more readers posted this data. It's real easy to obtain. Let me explain how.
The speed limiter limit of the non 4Matic USA benzes can be discovered by going to an unhooked dyno. This is much safer than a road test. And, to save $100 one can just carefully jack up the rear tires, and floor it. You should over-inflate the rear tires slightly (~5 psi) beforehand to reduce the chance of a blowout as the sidewalls come in and middle of the tire bows out due to centripetal force. Of course, to increase safety you can place your foot on top the brake and park directly touching an obstacle, or you can do it where there a little empty space ahead. Stop the test if you have a shimmy because your car might walk off the jack stands. However, your car would not lurch forward to the tire speed in case the rear fell down. I think it is a good idea to do this test before any actual speed run to test tire speed ratings, since a blowout at high speeds is much more dangerous.
I wished more benz owners did this. Top speeds of sports cars are more important than you might be led to think.

Mercedes s600 and their others are supposed to be limited to 135 MPH. Reason is TIRES max speed. Germany requires autos be sold with tires suitable for the max speed. After all, there are many locations there with unlimited speed allowed. US Purchasers, would not accept the short tire life and high cost of the tires rated for the max speed (class W?. ).

Or, you can hook up your copy of STAR and read out what the limit is. It's in the ECU adaptations. Far, far safer than running the car with the wheels in the air, which strikes me as incredibly dangerous.
Mine was 210 KM/Hr, and I changed it to 250 KM/Hr.

What modifications if any were done to your car?
