Help for Connections for Command system

Dear All,

Do anybody have the diagram over the connection on this command system?

Trying to put a new system in, but can’t find the can high/low to start signal.

Thank you very much.

The issue is, if this part fits your car. In the years 2001-2003 there were some completely different Comands in use. For the type number your picture shows is A220 820 5889, the diagram as attached below. Hope you have a European car, as this type only works in Europe. In the attached link you can check with your VIN which Comand fits the serial number and year/month. Check under "Elektrische Anlage"

Thank you very much Bamberger_1.

The car is original from Germany, but came to Denmark in 2013. The radio on the photos is from my car.

ok, then it should work, if your car is before Sept 1st, 2002. So called VorMopf. Vor Modellpflege. If yours is from later than 9/2002 (built date) I doubt you can use the A2208205889. The technology changed completely after that date. New fiber bus (MOST instead of D2B), and the complete Comand architecture changed, so units cannot just be swapped.

I believe that the W220 changed later than that - at least, the USA 2003 cars are D2B, the 2004 cars are MOST.

Yes, wallyp, but the new model year in the USA starts in fall of the previous year. The design upgrade for the W220 in Europe was Sept 2002. And the USA and Japanese Comands were completly different compared to the European units. But in this case the poster bought a German licensed car and took it to Denmark.

So you are saying that the entire model run of 2003 W220 cars are D2B in the USA and MOST in Europe and the RoW?

wallyp, I have to withdraw my comments about the timeframes. You were right D2B and the European Comand A2208205889 were used also in the W220 upgrade until 09/2003.

It works with the first connection guide. So now I have to make some different things, to fit the new android system.

Angry Which Command System

[Q
In the =DK1

4;7912819] [/QUOTE]
The 98-2003 S class vehicles had several incompatible audio/navigation/telephony systems. Two MAIN differences Command 2.5--the EARLIER systems are different form factor and was CD disc only. for navigation. The later version 2.0 (yes later one was 2.0 while earlier was 2.5) used DVD discs. Both of these used D2B Fiber Optic wiring for ANALOGUE communications in series through everything. There were different versions > You must get a copy of the BUILD SHEET to verify what was installed at the factory for your specific vehicle. The whole network dies if any component fails to connect quickly.. The emergency telephone radio contact device is prone to failure and often by-passed.They then changed to the MOST network protocol Car Area Network onboard network which is a DIGITAL communication system and every component is different from D2B fiber optic units.
The number of possible component form factors, communication protocols, analogue or digital, D2B or MOST, are dizzying. The factory 'Build Sheet' will at least tell you what was there and connected (working) leaving the factory.. Do not expect the Dealer Techs to be much help here except by sheer luck. The 'learning curve' is very steep and not often used so most don't bother with all the study required.

No, the later Model Comand 2.0 never accepted DVD's, CD's only and had D2B. It was basically a 1:1 copy of the Comand 2.5, but with a 16:9 screen, and the Navigation CD slot also played music CD's. This version was used until Sept 2003. All after this date was completely different and not compatible, and, yes, it changed several times in a relative quick sequence. All I'm saying here ist related to the W220, NOT to any other model.
