Backup Camera

I’ve researched; I’ve looked; Even some prominent youtuber has tried;

Is there any good working integrated backup camera system for this car?

As I told you already, if your Comand has no TV-Funktion (US/Can-Version) you cannot integrate a back up camera in the Comand, as the necessary Robert Bosch CAN Bus is not present. The only way is to use a system with a separate screen on the dash or the mirror :-((

YES, and virtually NOT really. The mirror options are possibly a no go, since our mirrors carry some more functions. The mirror options always cover the complete existing mirror. See a picture of my RVC. But I have the TV-Tuner and the TV Function, which is essential

It might be worth replacing the head unit just for this functionality; Does it integrate with the reverse gear?

Yes, but only if TV is pressed. This was the best to get out of the existing system. Automatic switch to RVC is not possible. Switching to an European Comand, driving in the USA/Can has many disadvantages, as the Navigation, the Radio and I don't know what, won't work.

Are you sure? I’m pretty sure radios work the same everywhere, and I could just put the North America CD into the thing;

RVC is nice but unnecessary in that regard. This car just desperately needs a backup camera before someone gets hurt

I don't get it??? When i wrote RVC it was meant to be a rear view camera (= back up camera). As far as I know the USA Radio is a satellite based system the European system is an old fashioned FM terrestrial reception. About navigation I'm not sure, but I think I read about some people who reimported cars from USA to Europe and needed European Comands in order to get full functionality. Just in case this wouldn't be an issue, you need an European Comand. If you drive a W220 its very important to know which VIN to find the adequate Comand. Additionally you need either a multi media interface and a cable harness or an European analog TV-Tuner with separate AV inputs, such as A2208200897 (4:3 screen) or A2208201897 (16:9 wide screen) and the cable harness to connect the TVTuner to the Comand. The Comands were A2208203489 Comand 2.5 (4:3 screen) or a A2208205889 Comand 2.0 (16:9 wide screen)

While satellite radio is available by subscription ($$) requiring a special receiver, in the US, there are hundreds of local FM OTA (Over The Air) stations, mostly supported by on-air commercials. There are still a few AM local OTA stations, but at least in my area, most are religious or Hispanic.
US-type receivers will sorta work in Europe, and vice-versa, but not very well. There are several detail differences, as in US frequencies are odd numbers - e.g., 100.1, 100.3, 100.5, while European frequencies may be 100, 100.1, 100.2, etc. There are some other differences that add some distortion to the sound.
