Challenge to start motor, when using keyless go

Dear all,

This is about my W220, 320, CDI, 2003.

My challenge is:

The car is closed.

The car opens perfect when I go up to the drivers door.

I sit in, and close the door.

Then I press the button on the gearshift, then the steering wheel and seat goes in position, then it lights up in the drivers display.

Then I press one more time on the gearshift, now it’s seems that it goes to the ignition position.

The motor don’t start.

If I press one more time on the gearshift, it’s like when I stop the motor with the normally key.

The seat and steering wheel first goes in out position when I open the door.

What could this challenge be?

Please see photos.

Thank you very much.

To start the motor you need to push the brake pedal

what puzzles me is the fact, that your key card has a part number of the CL500 A215......, even your car is a W220????? Maybe someone swapped the keys, and they may work for the doors, but not with the ignition security system???? Leaves me behind with no clue??? My key-less-go card has a A220.......number.

Must press brake pedal when you hit the start button. If it doesn't work, try taking the key out of your pocket and holding it near the gauge cluster. If that works, you probably need to replace the battery in your key. Mine did the same thing.

But poor batteries would not allow to get the the cluster started and the steering wheel in place. Then you'll get the failure card not identified, or so (in German "Karte nicht erkannt")

Sure it will. Mine will do that if the doors were already unlocked and I don't even have the key.
