2000 S430 Mercedes rear dime light staying on
Help!!! My 2000 Mercedes-Benz S430 rear dome lights stay on all the time (never goes to sleep) checked all the doors and removed the fuses. The battery draw moves from 0.980 to 2.9 amps constantly. Ever since this happened the engine has less power too.
Any help is welcomed.

They are powered by the Overhead Control Panel (OCP). If these are the only lights staying on, then it seems to me the OCP must be bad. A used one on eBay is about $50. The OCP is the light assembly around the rear view mirror.

I disconnected the OCP and still rear dome lights stayed on. Rear dome light bulb removed, OCP disconnected, it still drained the battery overnight. What does the module under rear seat controls?

The rear SAM controls most of the electrics/electronics in the rear of the car.
Have you lifted the passenger (right) carpets to check for water under the carpets in the floor channels? Unfortunately, it is not too unusual to have a plugged drain valve in the HVAC plenum under the hood. This allows rain and wash water to fill the plenum, overflow thru the firewall, and travel under the carpets (there will NOT be any indication of this inside the car until you lift the carpets), damaging the electrical circuits (main cables and fuses) under the carpets and also seriously damaging the rear SAM. There are numerous threads, posts, and videos on this problem online.
