2000 Mercedes-Benz S-Class 4.3L
I am thinking about buying a 2000 S class, 4.3L, eight cylinder engine, with only 120,000 miles and one owner that was serviced regularly at an authorized dealer?
Any issues with this engine?
My mechanic think the older e320(6 cylinder) and 500 engines(8 cylinder) are bullet proof.
I do have a 2000 E320 that has 220,000 miles on it and still runs great.

The 430 and 500 W220 engines are normally very reliable and very long-lived.
My opinion (shared by many owners) is that if you are willing and able to do most maintenance and repairs yourself, these are excellent cars, and quite affordable. If you must have all repairs and maintenance done by a reliable independent garage that has the knowledge and equipment, it won't be a cheap ride. If you want dealer repairs and maintenance, it will be a very expensive ride.

everyone says "avoid pre facelift" but I dont know why. "everyone" alsy says w220 is not as good as previous gen blah blah
as long as car checks out and no CEL , good maintenance history, low miles just like your 120k, check it out! post some pics!

Be willing to open your wallet for repairs (whether you're doing the work, or your good mechanic is), don't let problems fester (even big problems), and if you're doing your own maintenance: buy a mercedes computer of some sort along with the car.
