Aftermarket alarm system

Hello,

Planning to install aftermarket alarm system, system supports CAN-BUS, therefore the installation gonna be easy.
My question would be in which wires to connect directly? I know that under driver footwell there is connection. Is that good location to connect? Any other suggestions?

My advice is just don’t, aftermarket alarm systems never work correctly with these cars and cause excessive battery drain or other problems.

You’re just asking for problems, and people ignore car alarms anyway so it will provide no real security to you. Throw an apple AirTag in the trunk and you’ll have vehicle tracking for $29.

Not many people want a W220, so I doubt that many are stolen nowadays. Few have desirable sound systems, so not many want those.

Given the problems that aftermarket security systems can cause with the W220 electrical system and the computer systems, and the quality of the standard security system, I would never bother to install one in my car.

Thanks for answers. Mine is S55 AMG and in my country not many of them left which roadworthiness, that's why decided to install aftermatket alarm system with tracking option. Mine lock/unlock options works great as it is, but there is no siren, atleast it is not sounding, when doing anything with the car. I assume that i only have central locking system in my car.

Will try anyway to install it, since it's already ordered, will inform how it goes.

It is very common for the standard W220 security battery to die. The only practical repair is to install a new factory unit. The unit is located behind the fender liner in the left front wheel well.

Yes, it’s much better to install a brand new Mercedes alarm siren, they contain an internal battery, and when that fails, it can cause all kinds of problems with your car. Much better to buy a brand new Mercedes alarm siren than to install an aftermarket alarm.

as for vehicle tracking, put an Apple AirTag placed in the trunk works much better.

Strange, atleast looking at WIS data with my VIN code it doesn't show anything related to alarm system, including picture.

Origanally, my car came from Japan. Maybe that's why there alarm system was not included.

If i'm not mistaken, AirTag's working only with iPhone?

Does it beep when opening and closing?

Also, does it have a tow hook switch on the dash? If it has one, your car has an alarm.
I really doubt that an S55 AMG isn't specced with an alarm from the dealer.

You could also test if you've got an alarm; lock the car; disconnect the battery, open the car with the key and connect the battery.
The alarm will go off, if you've got one though

Much easier to just lock the car with the fob , and with someone else inside the car , have them open their door to see if the alarm goes off . No battery disconnecting needed

There are no motion sensors inside the car from factory, there is only a tilt sensor for towing alarm
