Exclamation Non-OEM Brake Pads / Rotors used on W220

Hi everyone,

we started some discussion on using non-OEM brake pads/rotors on this forum and I think this topic deserves a separate therad.

The following are Brake Pads and Rotors for standard W220 brakes.

These are some aftermarket brake pads available for W220:
  1. ROTEX GOLD KEVLAR
  2. CERAMICOOL (Front Pads only)
  3. Porterfield R4S Pads
  4. Textar (OEM? N1010-132121 available through www.brakeworld.com and others)
  5. Jurid (OEM? N1010-132121 available through www.brakeworld.com and others)
  6. Green Stuff (Front Pads only)

These are some aftermarket brake rotors available for W220:
  1. Brembo : Cross-Drilled & Slotted
  2. Disc Italia : Cross-Drilled & Slotted

Does anyone have any experience with the above mentioned products?
Any other suggestions for low-dust performance brake pads/rotors without implementing replacements kits (like Brembo's BigBrake, etc.)?

yes i have used the textar brake pads and love them. Reason I love them is because they are the same ones that mercedes use. Yes textar is the oem brake provider for mercedes

I'd like to purchase some front rotors, front pads and sensors. I wouldn't mind textar pads and brembo rotors but might even settle for something else. Anyone know where I can get the best deal for something like this? Thanks.

The reason I started this thread is to get some input from W220 owner on using non-OEM brake products.
My front pads/rotors (and rear ones soon too) are due for replacement and I am trying to find the optimal solution.

Brakeworld offers some interesting choices and for rotors I am interested in Brembo drilled and/or slotted front and rear rotors.

In brake pads department OEM pads are ok but produce too much annoying brake dust that I cannot tolerate .
ROTEX GOLD KEVLAR front and rear pads look attractive enough and promise better than OEM performance PLUS less brake dust

Probably will also replace stock brake lines with Stainless Braided Brake Lines by StopTech.

Anyone has any experience with the above mentioned items?

There's a guy on ebay selling zimmerman rotors with textar pads and brake sensors for $220 plus s/h. Anyone have experience with the zimmerman rotors? I know someone mentioned textar as oem so they can't be so bad.

Textar and Jurid brands supply OEM brake pads to MB.
OEM pads are good and provide adequate performance. The only issues are that for the same price you can get a better performance pads and (very important) lower brake dust on your rims.

tmushy,
Are those GENUINE Brembo cross drilled rotors?
Do you have Front and Rear rotors?
So you have only one set for sale?
How would I be assured that these are 100% authentic Brembo's and not some imitation?

Hello gentlemen I spoke with Brembo Today. According to them they do not make cross driled rotors for the front end of an S class. Only for the rear. For the rear it would cost $250.

Now the only way you can get it in the front is by buying the full upgrade brake package for the front.
Full upgrade kits for the front would be $2800 and for the back would be $2200.
Sorry fro the bad news

tmushy, what about these Brembo front and rear brake rotors sold on BrakeWorld ?
Do you think they are selling non-existent product or its just an error on their site?

Hello everyone,
I'am new to this website but i have been reading some of the posts for a while.
I was trying to find drilled front brembo rotors on the internet but i couldnt find any so at the end, i decided to order the regular brembo rotors of TireRack.com, i just received them today and to my surprise they where drilled, and the price was only like $80 each, anyway im getting them installed next week and i just wanted to share this info, maybe someone else would find it helpful.
