Retrofit OEM Cellphone on 2003 S500?

Hello everyone, this is my first post here! I just purchased a used 2003 S500, which doesn't have the factory cellphone option. I need to know the parts list necessary to retrofit the car with the OEM phone. I have seen many on eBay (they all claim their specific one is the one that works in my car), but I don't know the exact parts (part numbers) needed or what year range is applicable to my exact model (ie, 2000-2003, etc). My dealer says it is NOT possible to retrofit, but I dont believe them. I think they just dont want to go through the trouble.

So, if anybody can help with this I would appreciate it. I have tried searching for this here but didnt find the OEM parts list and instructions for the upgrade (other than mikbox or the NL people who apparantly upgrade the existing OEM system).

Thanks in advance,
Ernesto

We don't upgrade the existing OEM system, that's Mikbox... we sell new-style systems for older cars (which the dealerships say "you can't do that").

But as you request, here are the parts for your year car... you might have trouble getting an old phone activated, but it depends on where you live.

Q 682 0707 PSE
Q 682 0657 Compensator
Q 682 0848 Voice control
Q 682 0432 D2B cable
Q 682 8468 Y-cable
Q 682 0850 PSE bracket
Q 682 0431 Switch bracket
Q 682 0427 Compensator bracket
Q 682 0820 PTT lever
Q 682 0652 Antenna switch
Q 682 0724 V60i cradle kit with short cable

And a V60i phone, Sprint/Verizon/etc.

So, is this what you sell? This type of system, with the parts you listed? Or can I find some of the parts used and you sell me the new phone and adapters separately? How would I go about installing?

Thanks for the list!!

Scorchie gave you the list of parts you would need for an OEM installation for your car, which is what your first post requested. As for how to install it, see the phone bulletin for your model and year car on Paul H. Di ck's website - http://home.earthlink.net/~phdwebsit..._bulletins.htm Unless you buy used equipment, this is the most expensive way to go, and you will be limited to an expensive Mercedes-branded phone; you can only use the Mercedes branded phone for the installation you buy. Others will not work.

Scorchie sells and installs UHI, Universal Handy Interface equipment - original equipment (OE) in most countries outside the U.S. - that is far more flexible than the U.S. OE Mercedes installations because many more types of phones can be used. The cost is less than half that of new Mercedes OE.

The MikBox is an interface used with OE installations that allows most modern Motorola phones to be used; he is planning to expand the interface to allow use of Nokia and Ericsson phones, but that is still in the future.

If you already have an OE phone installation, the MikBox is the least expensive way to go, though right now you'd be limited to Motorola phones. If you don't already have an OE phone, the UHI costs about the same as buying used equipment and installing it together with the MikBox, and lets you use more phones than the MikBox.

If you search these forums with terms like MikBox, UHI, and the screen names (even just those in this string), you will find a ton of information.
