When??

When is the new style S-Class making its debut in the USA?

Does anyone know what engines will be available the first year?

The S320, S500 will be available at first. The S600 will come a few months later from what my dealer is telling me. The S63 will come late next year to mid 2007. Im on a waiting list for the S63 with about 10 others and am about at the lead.

Just in Time marketing now too?

The earliest reference I have see in an auto magazine for US availability is January 2006. Since European availability begins this month (September) that would likely be the earliest, but there are several reasons why that date could be premature including priorities of the new management and the pending US launch of the R Class. Of course if the production capacity exceeds the local demand then economics may dictate earlier availability to the US in order to make a good showing on the balance sheets. Prudence would have suggeted going back to the old time schedule of allowing up to a year of road use in Europe to allow the glitches to be worked out, but then again it looks like the bean counters may be calling the shots now rather than the engineers of yore.

Absolute earliest you can get a S600 is November. Price will be hefty though, 145K

S600

Think I will get one of those new S600's and retire my 01 S500. Just don't know about the initial model year, sometimes some bugs to be worked out. I am going to contact the dealer and see about ordering.
