Mercedes all the way!
Toyota's claims: true/untrue/gray :D
Hi all, just reading Time (wait, was it Newsweek?? always confused by the two) magazine (Europe edition) for this week (7 Nov 2005) and there was a page interviewing toyota's boss. what i want to ask is the accuracy of some of his claims, which *i thought* were not true, or at least, not strictly so.
basically, he claimed that Toyota is the pioneer in having both post- and pre-safe - meaning they use radar and other sensors to anticipate and prevent an accident (sounds very familiar? ); that they invented SRS, specifically the curtain airbag; that they invented Vehicle Stability Control (which he described as meaning that the car won't spin on sudden changes in steering angle - sounds familiar again eh); among other things.
now i'm not familiar with what toyota has invented, but what he's claiming sounds very similar to a certain, you know, other brand :p and i thought pre-safe is a trademarked term?

Oooooh Toyota is in trouble now. I hope DCX jumps on them for making such a bold statement. Ah yes, Toyota is at it once again claiming they are the pioneers when all they really do is rip off our beloved Mercedes Benz brand.

Hilarious! Next, they will begin to claim that their LS-series sedan is a completely original design, and in fact looks completely different than a Mercedes S-Class!

OH SO TRUE...The LS is a w140 lookalike, there next LS Model will then look like either the w220 or the new 2221..Lexus cant ever come up with anything original, will the SC's dont look like the SL's but Lexus is ALLWAYS Ripping off MB's designs.

Dude who cares. It's got something to do with media, that means it's got something to do with marketing which means bean counters which means the guys who babble, are not the guys who design and build the car.
