New S-Class carpets Scottsdale...
There was a parade of new w221s, every color combination available, traveling about today – streets, freeways. I was told they’re lending them out for the FBR Open here in Scottsdale AZ.
Recently saw an S500 up close and personal at the dealer. I like the exterior (looks fabulous in motion) however, I’m not sure I’ll ever get used to the body colored trim running through the brake lights. And the interior, although spacious, just doesn’t seem to live up to what I was expecting in a S500.

What you saw was likely the S-Class launch event cars:

I read that article, and that’s what I thought initially. There were 3 to 4 passengers in every car spotted. While down at my dealer I asked and was told FBR. Haven't seen any since then. Either way, as I mentioned, the car looks fantastic in motion – in every color! My only disappointments, up close, were the body colored accents to the rear brake lights and “I expected” an overall higher quality-looking interior – not that there is anything so terribly wrong with it. To be quite honest it’s on the list for ’08.

I liked the one I saw at the dealer here and thought the fender flares were okay and not as bad as the pictures. I just looked at all the side views of the AutoSpies coverage and damn....that front wheel well flare looks bad. It looks just too "stuck on" instead of blending with the lines to the rear of the car. I described it earlier as looking like the car was dipping at the end of the wheel well flare and where it meets the windshield line....sagging I guess is a way to describe it.
I will just have to adapt I guess to that look and maybe if I see enough of them on the road here soon, I will not see it anymore. I really thought I had gotten over the "flare" effect but I guess not...

If the styling on the new S65 is an indication, or an example, of MBZ's current and near future evolution in styling manner we all might have to get used to such as fender flares (and more) on the upcoming models....
I for one do like the styling on the new GL more than i had anticipated that I would; and I do far prefer its styling to that of the R-Class.
I guess that we will all just have to wait and see what is in store for us from the MBZ styling department.

Hi Dan,
I saw that black one they had at Schumacher.. I hate to say it, but it looked so much like a well done Lincoln to me... especially in that black / black trim... I'm not "in love" with this S yet. Shame, as I was looking forward to trading in the CDI for a diesel version.
