Launch edition

Autospies made mention of a launch edition S Class which will include night vision. Has anyone received word of the color combination and exact options?

i thought night vision was just an option. That's what it is in Hong Kong.. unless there's another night vision that you are talking about.

Night vision normally comes in the Premium3 package....but for now because of the shortage of cameras its being left out with the P3 reduced in price

Any word on price for this model? Are you the same "Shoes" that used to post on Edmunds a year or so ago?

i've never heard of a launch edition S. the only more or less similar I know was the Saks S600.

@BlackSL: NightVision is an option in every country.

Heated seats

There is no mention of heated/ventilated seats or trunk closer in the launch edition package, but it has everything else from luxury package 3- is it possible the launch edition lacks heated seats?

My dealer says I will have this car on February 7.

A salesman told me that some of the options are in short supply.

Not heated seats

The option that is in short supply is night vision not something as basic as heated seats. I suspect the launch edition has all the options from the P3 package, it just isn't listed.

Damn this thing is pricey. I can see it loosing some comparos because of the price. The cheaper S450 needs more power to deal with the LS460 and 750i.

I just saw the Fifth Gear review on the 2007 S-Class. Great car .. except the night vision which they found to be totally useless.

How could anything that might help you avoid hitting an obstacle, wrecking your car, or killing somebody on the road at night or in fog or other conditions of poor visibility be considered to be "totally useless"?!!!

Never take something you read or hear, or somebody else's opinion as THE TRUTH....

Have you seen any of the photos of the screen with the infrared vision system in use? I have -- and the image, and its clarity and distance of view, looked great to me.....

I am ordering the system on my S65.

I downloaded the episode off the net. Basically, they put a human being (live) on a dark stretch off road, walking along it, and then used the car to find him and the guy didn't show up on the screen. Go figure? Maybe they did the test wrong?

Meanwhile, back on topic

I just got more details from my dealer on the launch package- it has heated seats but not ventilated seats and it does not have the trunk closer. However, it does have panorama roof, night view assist and keyless go, all three of which are in short supply.

your dealer is a bit off...night view assist is in short supply,,,not the keyless go and pano...those are not hard to build factory items.numbers for the car come out next week...(moneyfactor, residuals, option pricing)

It's probably going to be at a GTG, my friend.

I used to have the limo driver put a silk hood over my Mom's head when she was being picked up and taken to the jet to fly to see me. I'd make her wear it until the second limo driver pulled up to the front door of whatever residence I was at, when it would then be removed. That always did kind of **** her off just a little bit....

So now I think that I've figured out how to deal with the anonimity/disguise for the papparazi issues:

I saw one live and in person. It displayed the area ahead and did it well. I don’t think it was designed to function as a thermal night sight, like the one on an M1A1 Abrams tank and show people as “hot spots” adjacent to the cooler background.
