Similar, but the W221's headlights are like 50% bigger. And you have the nice grill with the hood ornament, and they sexy styling of the W221 to differentiate it from the Ford.

Mercedes all the way!
heh heh, i was hoping this issue had died down by now :p
actually, there's one big difference: on the S, the headlights go around the sides (to the fenders). on the focus, they don't. for some reason (to me) that difference makes the S look much more "confident" and "expansive" - not sure if it's just because it's on the S, though =)
in that vein, one could also say the S lights bear quite a similarity to the ML, RX, Kia Sorento, Camry (Asian version, not the American/Japanese version), and quite a few other cars. like i've said before, not the most impressive display of originality, but nevertheless, not an issue for me.

Think about when the 2000 s-class was released, there were no headlights style close to it, the same goes for the tail-lights. it was pretty revolutionary the way the headlights/taillamps were shaped, now its really too much like everything else, and the tailight design seriously took a huge plunge this time, i was really expecting to see something revolutionary

Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Porsche, Aston Martin, Chevrolet
I do not believe that they are extremly similar. Yet they do have the same shape but that is the only resemblance.

While we're at it should we start talking about the similarities with the 7 series interior, or bagle butt????
Can we just give it a rest! Yes to the naked and simple eye I guess the headlights have a simlair shape, that's it....

the headlights on the S-class don't resemble the ones on the Mondeo as much as the flares resemble the ones on the RX-8.
But it is a great looking car, nevertheless.
