Quote: Overall diameter of the tire is still the same, it just means that the sidewall is an inch lower (for a two inch all-around expansion of the wheel). I have seen the 17 inch wheel combo on the new S when I was in Europe last year. That is a very cushy ride set-up, but the car did not look as lithe as it can. The S cars I saw with them were also predominantly short wheelbase models. Gave the S a completely different flavor.

I am planning to take a seven coutry trip by car in Europe this coming summer, mostl likely late July to mid August. I will be with one other person, and we will drive accross the countries starting in Milan, continuing into (briefly Monaco) France, take the tunnel into the UK, than back into France, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, and back into Italy. My two vehicle choices are the 221 (most likely a CDI model) and the SL (most likely a 350). The SL may be wishful thinking because it is short on luggage space, therefore I may end up with the S. I am looking forward to Summer. Of course, if I were to convince myself of a new MB, I could end up doing the trip with the rental until Germany and complete it with my possible European delivery S600 (if sport is available) or S65--but it is as yet unlikely.
Good for you, that trip sounds awesome. Was actually considering something similar with the CL63 this summer but no room for the wife and luggage, not to mention the kids! Have a great time. I can't wait to hear about it.

Not my type of kit...but looks very good (not really feeling the fender vents) still nice though

The only thing I'd change would be the strut grill, as nice as it is on a LOT of cars...IMO it doesn't fit the look for the S

Anywho nice car

Quote: Thats not an S550, first of all why would u take off the badging, and second, its rear doors and body is too short to be one so yeah right its an s550
Actually its quite common in Europe to leave the badging of (its a free option to do so when you order your car).

The mentality behind that is that it is considered showing off in some areas to leave the badging on, and showing off is what most people with a bit more than average amounts of money here like to avoid doing. You buy such a car for your own pleasure and not to slap others in the face with.

The fact that you drive an S class and not some cheap French or Japanese car is enough of a statement as it is.

The car shown in the previous post is indeed a short wheelbase, which is the most sold version in Europe. Its easier to park in the tighter parking spaces here.

I own a large wheelbase S420 (thats a diesel V8) and it usually sticks out a lot in normal parking spaces.

Pics included (the interior is a custom designo color). :-)

Quote: Wanted to post some pics., a couple of guys have pm'd me asking about the interior color. I think the color in the pics. is pretty true although I'm definitely no Nevada Jack.
MB certainly outdid themselves this time with the designo Espresso. By far my favorite.

Also, if anyone says my comment is racist, then they are in the wrong. I said the mod was "distasteful" - which would apply to any individual who would corrupt the natural beauty of the W221 with such horrendously ugly add ons.

PLEASE! Don't use the "quote" feature when a dozen pictures are a part of the quote. It uses up a lot of cyberspace and time looking for the next posting.
