Dvd Option
If you want rear DVD entertainment.. Brabus sells a nice package.
Does this mean i can watch a DVD? Or just hear it?
Brad
If you see 'Video' load a regular movie DVD into any slot on the DVD changer and you can watch it on the COMAND screen. DVD menus are fully functional If you have the Harman Kardon Logic 7 option you can watch it in awesome DTS sound. The only problem is that once the car is moving it cuts the picture and continues with the sound.
There was some discussion at one time about how to defeat this safety feature, but no one was able to confirm that they had succesfully done so. My local dealer tell me they 'cannot'. It is not clear whether this means they are not aware how, they are not allowed to, or whether this is impossible without other dire consequences!

Another solution might be able to split the video feed into the COMAND unit, connect a switch to swap back and forth, and hook up an external DVD unit. I haven't heard of anyone doing this yet or if its possible, but that might be a work-around.
I presume the device allows video, whether from video dvd or TV tuner, to be displayed while the vehicle is on the move. However I would suppose this assumes the car has the dvd player and TV tuner module installed.
The issue then is whether the US market cars have these installed and crippled (I understand the TV tuner is a seperate module product code 863, the German spec lists the DVD player as standard).
Anyone tried this device? I am sure if it unlocks a DVD player which is already onboard, allows it to be used on the move, and disables the seat belt chime, many members would rush out to get one, never mind about TV.
As a final comment, I understand the TV tuner module receives digital TV broadcasts which may or may not be available in the US, but please don't hold me on this I am entirely prepared to be wrong here.
