Bluetooth answers hard to come by.
I have cell service with Alltel. My phone is a Motorola Razr 3c with Bluetooth...the latest they have. I decided to use that phone and attempt to initialize Bluetooth with my S600. The car sees the phone and details it as installed and authorized. But nothing happens...it doesn’t work. I called MB dealer #1. He informed me that I had to purchase a Bluetooth module or an MB cradle for the car. I called dealer #2. He gave me a pin number and told me that if that didn’t work I may have to purchase a Bluetooth module...it didn’t work. I called dealer #3. He told me that I needed a Bluetooth module and that my current phone (Razr 3c) would not work with my car...even with the module. He told me I needed a Razr 3m. I contacted Alltel and they don’t yet have the Razr 3m. It’s a wonderful row to hoe.
I wonder why MB leads one to believe (in the owner's manual and brochures) that Bluetooth operation is just a matter of having a Bluetooh capable phone.

you have to buy the blurtooth module $350 in the states. then allow the module to pair with the car then pair the phone to the module. its the only way it works. I have the razr and it works great.
PM me if you still have problems.

Yep. Need to buy the Bluetooth module and THEN enter the pin code. I have a razor/Verizon and it works fine. But contrary to what some dealers are saying, you don't need to purchase special "authorized" phones to pair with the MB.

But I think only certain phones will upload the contacts to the command. My phone is the Verizon 6700 and I can only make and receive calls via the Bluetooth. I cannot get to my contacts.

that is what i was told today.....the cradle will allow the COMAND to upload the contacts on your phone. Otherwise, you can still use the phone, but you have to dial the numbers manually or dial from the phone instead of the steering wheel. Is that about right?

We have a Verizon E815 paired up to the bluetooth module and the phonebook transfers to the car every time it connects. There's no cradle needed. Not sure how it is for different phones though.
Buffer: I also originally thought the bluetooth setup in the comand was for the phone, as phone seemed to pair up fine. But, it didn't work. I later read somewhere that the bluetooth on the comand is for transferring electronic business cards or something, not for the phone. They want to charge you more for that.

I have the Bluetooth module installed and it works flawlessly with my Razr from T-Mobile. I copied all my contacts from the phone to the car and use 100% voice control now. The only annoyance is setting up the voice activation, you need to go through your address book and say the name of EACH and EVERY contact in there so the car can save the audio sample and recognize it when you make calls, i.e. saying "Call Frank."

That's right and I don't think it could be better. My cell (RAZR) phone stays in my pocket. When I get into the vehicle, the Command screen says it is searching for phone...for a few seconds. After that everything on the cell phone is shown on the car phone screen...including the address book. It's fully functional, including voice commands.
