CLK500 2003, S 600 Model 2007
Changed from AMG 20Z rims (summer tires to MB 18Z winter tires)
on my S 600. The car runs now considerable smoother on all kind of street conditions. Didn't expect such a huge difference from 18th to 20th Z rims. Still no experiences how the S 600 performs with snow and ice...

I know that my hakkapeliitta tyres do an AWESOME job in the winter, but i have a FWD drive car with ~200HP not the beat RWD you have

It is by far the worst vehicle I have ever driven in the snow. I had all kinds of sports cars and they were much better than the S600. The S600 wont move on flat ground that is snow covered. Maybe your snow tires will help but this is not a winter car.

I think the problem you describe is a result of the ESP system and some tires--probably all-season tires--that "confuse" it. My car would come to a halt in snow unless I turned off the ESP. But when I got Micheline X-Ice tires I have found that the car goes through snow and on ice like a tank, w/ ESP on and working well!

No. It is just the opposite of that: It is wheel STOP! As Luke at the Tire Rack explained to me, certain tires, including the original Blizzaks, "hate the W220's ESP." When he switched me from my OEM all-season tires to Micheline X-Ice tires, my car went from not working at all on snow and ice to driving like a tank. I have never had a problem since switching tires.

Well it wasn't clear enough. You said that was the exact opposite of wheel spin. Not true. Tell me, how will ESP know when the brake the wheels if there's no wheel spin to begin with?
Do you have a link to the threads/post about what Luke explained to you. The thread you were referring to. The tires need to be replaced soon and I'm doing some research so I can decide which ones to get.

There is no link because Luke told me that on the phone and in an e-mail over a year ago when I bought my X-Ice tires from him. If you are questioning my honesty, please give him a call and check for yourself.
