Anyhoo... the Launch Edition was introduced (as the name suggests) when the S550 first came to market. It's a limited-run model, like I noted before, and they were all sold mono-spec; you got the S550, the contents of the Launch Edition package, and that's it. M-B has done this with the '05 SLK, the '06 CLS, and the '07 S-Class, along with a Premier Edition of the GL-Class that is essentially the same thing.
Yeah, I remember that, but I don't recall much "publicity" about the 4matic LE.

Hardly. I simply find no logic in your continued venting on this matter. If you don't think the thread has any meaning or value, don't read it. Simple, no? The antagonism is hardly warranted.

AsianML -- as to your observation about not much publicity, you're right. I've read no press releases on the subject of the S550 4Matic LE, nor have I seen any on eBay. Almost makes me wonder if the folks at Glauser were in error...but probably not. It's odd, nonetheless, that M-B would do two Launch Editions of the same model.

My "antagonism" has nothing to do w/ this thread. It has to do w/ idiots who inject themselves into situations where they have no business.

I think you might want to relax and settle down a bit. I fail to see the justification for such venom. I know that the Internet is Serious Business, but still....

Changing the subject

Thanks for killing my thread,

Well, we did answer all of your questions, including price and full contents of the package. Now we've moved on to the 4Matic version, which seems shrouded in mystery. As to the rest of it, I recommend yoga.

I wouldn't expect it to have too much additional value over a similarly-equipped S550; I doubt the LE models will appreciate for the next ten years. It's certainly worth more than a typical S550 with P2A, but how much more is hard to say, at least without further research.

BTW, AsianML, I'd be curious -- I know the Denebolas look okay in the abstract, but don't you think they look a little, well, odd, on the car? I think the 22-spoke 19-inchers would have been a nicer choice, although not as instantly identifiable, I suppose.

Perhaps a little odd from the rear, however IMO, they look fantastic from the front.

Did the owner mention the reason for the selling?

I don't want to know how hard he's driven it in those 6 months. If you keep a car for only 6 months, surely you'll be driving the hell out of it, or else what's the point of only keeping it that short?

I saw one of these valet parked at Neiman Marcus, and it looked awesome. The only thing is I don't really like the matte wood, it just looks a little cheap to me or something. I guess its just a preference. I also saw a 4Matic Launch Edition at Ray Catena, but I didn't pay much attention to it that day.

Wow, that's crazy; reminds me of people in Dubai -- they keep a car for 4-6 months and then sell it and get a new one. One guy told me he needs to experience as many cars as possible, and Mercedes alone has 12 models -- that'd take 6 years to go through just Merc's!

I said: you better start getting them 2 at a time!

Could be he just gets bored easily...
