2008 S63 w/perf. pack, 2002 Ferrari 360 F1 spider , 2007 Cadillac Escalade ESV (my Limo)
Ferrari or S600
I sold my 1999 Ferrari 360 for this S600 and I don't regret it at all 
, What a great car, fast and full of Standard options. for those who think I am crazy, think of this. The Ferrari did 0-60 in 4.9 the S600 in 4.5. The S600 has bluetooth, Ipod adapter (I have 2300 songs in my Ipod at my steering wheel access)
The S600 has night vision, distronic cruise control, massaging front and rear seats, navigation, the list goes on and on, and the Ferrari has none of these.

I luv the new S, but c'mon, man, a Ferrari is a Ferrari, even more an issue if you had a 430! Italian supercars are all about the mystique, design, and ultra-sex, not technology. Practicality vs. pulchritude. I would've robbed the bank to keep both!

S600 or Ferrari? The S isnt in the same realm...one if for daily driving the other is a freaking somewhat late model Ferrari!!....that being said I would be more likely to buy a S600 then a 360 out of warranty....but either way no benz can take a Ferrari's place: Apples compared to Oranges.

Perhaps you should've considered the CL 600; that is a more reasonable transition. You get the outmost comfort of a Benz sedan, yet maintain a degree of sportiness.
In any case... you haven't committed a crime... it is an S-Class afterall.

I agree with most of your posts, as far as the wheels being fugly though, not compared to the plain old 18" wheels that the 600 comes with. I have owned Ferraris, Vipers, Corvettes, BMW, Lexus and a Porsche 911 turbo complete with an Autothority Stage 2 upgrade. So this is from an informed car enthusiast, not just someone who goes off of what they read in car magazines. If I had a Ferrari 430 no i wouldn't have sold it, but a 1999 360 doesn't compare. Sure one is a sports car, but there is no car that has the best of both worlds than the S600 or some of Mercedes AMG models.

To xecution: Have you considered upgrading your S600?
Have you considered upgrading your new S 600 with an renntech ECU/TCU upgrade etc.?? You could easily get over 650 HP and over 800 torque in your car. Also, did you ever consider just getting an S65?
Also, do you feel that your S600 needs a brake upgrade? Or does the factory brakes feel very strong and fade free to you?
I know Renntech and Brabus offer some serious brake upgrades.

Yes, I did consider the S65 but the differance is 4.2 0-60 and a few other suspension upgrades for (I believe about 30 grand more) and 4.5 0-60 with every option standard. And I am considering the Renntech ECU upgrade for 3 grand I end up with about 610 Horses and 780 lbs of torque. The brakes seem fine they are a little bigger than the S550 but I won't know until I try an emergency stop going over 130 
sorry you are right about the Ferrari 360 at 4.5 so, hmmmm we'll be running neck and neck while i'll be getting a massage, watching my night vision and listening to the songs off of my Ipod .
And yes I did get my porsche 911 Turbo from Chambers how did you know?

Rarely have I seen 360's tested at or below 4.5 seconds 0-60, while 600s consistently approach 4.2s.
I also have a hard time justifying the S65 in favor of the S600. Especially the options' situation is a bit confusing. If you get all the options that are already standard on on the S600, you will need to add close to 10 grand to the already pricier 65, not to mention a couple of trim and equipment pieces that are not evel available on the 65, such as the ruffled leather inserts (Designo like interior) on the doors and the pillow thingy on all headrests--AMG seats do not have this.
If I could have everything that is standard on the S600 into the S65, than I could (with hesitation) see the point of the 30% markup. The only thing that spoils the 600 for me right now is the absence of the Sport package as an option--it is a must for me, in any mercedes. Plus the fact that my S-class would still not be the top of the line model (that bites my a$$ if I am essentially already shelling the better part of 150Gs into the darn thing.

Xecution, there is another member on this board who has an SL 600
Xecution, there is another member on this board who has an SL 600 2004 model that has been modified and now has 910 lb/ft of torque!! I think Renntech can somehow make your S 600 have easily over 800 or closer to 900 lb/ft.
Also, how much would it cost approximately to upgrade an S class's brakes to the brake system from the new S 65?

I'd encourage anyone who's serious about a new V-12 to test drive both models. The performance difference is much more apparent in life than on paper. It's true that mods can add quite a bit of power to either engine, but of course the extra displacement of the 65 means it will always come out on top.
