2007 S550 2000 S430 and 2003 SL500 (for sale)
S550 Deal good or pass

I have been looking at a "used (8000 miles)" S550. It was produced in Feb 06, it has ABC, Keyless go, AMG Pkg (1), Sirius, wood/leather, heated wheel, parktronics. 100K warrety and rim warrenty. He is asking 85K. Should I jump on it.

Also, can someone explain to me the 100K warrenty if anyone has got it and how much does it cost. I could not see it on the sticker.

thanks in advance for the help. I will be getting rid of my SL500 Family is getting bigger.

well, since the car is certified pre-owned, you get the remaining balance of the new car warranty, and when that runs out the 12 month/100k mile warranty takes effect. As far as price, I think 85k is a bit high, but I really dont know how the market for the S550 is right now, but that warranty is built into the price.

thanks for the reply, that warrenty is kind of bad 12 months/100K seems bad. They give you 4 years for 50K and 1 year for an additional 50K. I am still working on the price. Ebay seems to say it is no too great because the S550 I see online are 81-82K, but none with the additional options. I really wish they it had distronics and Bluetooth.

Bluetooth is just a $375 module you plug in. The S550 is pre-wired for Bluetooth - just drop in the module, and you're set.

Distronic Plus is a biggie (at least to me). It is well worth having. Personally, I would pass on any car without it

Thats a good deal for an S550 with a lot options (rare ones too such as ABC). We were quoted 6K off MSRP on an S550 w/Premium 2, Rear view and Night Assist...

I probably would pass, I've seen much better deals online. Therefore I would recommend hunting around a little more.

thanks a lot for all the help. For those who said I can find a better deal can you point me in right direction. I have searched on ebay, cars.com, autotrader.com etc. The major ones. If someone has a better please feel to e-mail at powerplyer@yahoo.com. I would like a car that is in California. I do not mind driving down or up the coast.

BTW thanks for the feedback on bluetooth, I like distronics and have it on my SL500 however only use it once in a while (long trips). It is one of those features i "would " like to have.

I am interested in the Bluetooth option, can some one tell me more. I looked on the website of wireless4mb.com and i did not see anything for $375. BTW I have a blackberry that would have to connect. I do not care about phone book and all I just want to use the intercom in my "future" mercedes.

The Distronic you have on your 2003 SL is COMPLETELY different than the Distronic Plus on the S550.

Make sure you test drive an S550 with Distronic Plus to understand how really cool the new one is

If you have the '04 built-in phone system, then yes, you just buy the adapter. If you don't have a MB phone system already in the car, the cost to add it is just stupid.

Well I pulled the trigger. I was able to nudge him down a little bit to 81.5K. BTW the extended warrenty is for additional 3 years or 100K. Now some suggestion on what to add on:

1) Tint the windows
2) get and adapter to hook up my blackberry and my wifes razor phone. I hope I do not have to buy two adapters.

any others ppl can think of, the rims are nice and I will paste picutres.

Looks sweet! Great buy. I would absolutely tint the windows. As for the bluetooth adapter, you only need one, and you can pair both phones to the car. The only thing I don't know is what happens if you are both in the car, with your phones. It will pair with one phone at a time, and I don't know who it will decide which one is primary. I'm sure there is some way to set it up.

Happy driving!

thanks, I really enjoy the car. I took up to the santa curz mountains this weekend and ABC is a must have. Thanks for the advice on the phone, the boss will be driveing the car mostly. I will stick with my 2000 S430.

BTW, the most useful feature besides the ABC is the DVD Mp3 player.

The price is a little high, but not excessive and varies with locale. MB new car warranty is 4 years 50,000 the extended MB warranty adds another 4 years 50,000. It is a dealer item and you should get the paper work, transfer it into your name at a dealer. It covers almost everything the new car warranty did but not radio, dimming mirrors, or appearance items, the seller can cancell it and get a portion of the money back. In 02 it was $3500 plus tax for an S class. It can be transferred to an individual but not to a dealer, or a vehicle resold by a dealer, its like the Starmark warranty.

I think one of the posts indicated if the MB components are not there it will require them plus dealer programming, Ther Razor cradle will set you back over $300,
