I am seeing a major drop in S550'S ... they are going from a low of $60k with 30k miles to $73k with under 5000 miles.....and a S600 with 16k miles black on black just sold yesterday for $98k.... S65'S are as low as $138k for a buy back lemon law car........ nice deal for someone and averaging about $155k for low mile ones ... clean titles.....

on the S65 ...
someone didnt want to pay the bill anymore and complained until Benz paid it off and that is that... happens all the time in Cali... I bought a E55 lemon law car... with 28k miles... sold it with 43k miles and not problems... hell it was a smart buy.... paid $51k had it about 13 months and then sold it for $48k... and to think all the dealers around me were trying to get over $65k for theirs... I would of lost about $20k going that route...

This doesn't surprise me, especially if we are talking about early 2007's. First, we don't know what equipment is on the S550's. Many early cars were not well "loaded" with options, due to parts availability. In addition, remember that the "Launch Edition" and other early models had the hideous 2 fins (one on the roof, and one on the trunk) which, thankfully, MB has fixed. I know my dealer has problems moving cars with two antennas

As for the S600 and S65, this also does not surprise me, again, if we are talking about early 2007's. You always take a hit on the high-end models in the early years.

On the flip-side, I lucked out when I dumped my '04 E55 after only 15 months. The E55 held its desirability when compared to the '06 E63 (I believe it was due to the switch from supercharging to NA), and I only took a $2,600 hit to get out of my lease, which I started with $0 out of pocket.

These are the recent 2007 S550's....the 60K ones are all below average, high mileage cars. Remember a base one is 85K, you figure $1-$1.50/miles first year depreciation and for the one that sold on 10/04 27K miles and it only lost $21,000 off sticker, thats well under $1 mile. Thats not too horrible. I just sold a 2007 sport package, pano roof 98K sticker w/ 4K miles for 83 and the dealer I sold to got 87 so they still do hold value well. To be honest if you want the best S550 deals check out leasetrader.com. I surf through it all the time and sometimes people put in nice incentives to get out of their deals and you don't have to put downpayments. I saw an S550 sport 2-3 weeks ago w/ a final payment of $980 for 22 months bc of the big chunk the owner was willing to add in

What are 07 S65 bringing in?
Danny: Thanks for info on S550 and S600. What are 2007 S65s bringing in at auction? The last report we had at MBWorld was around 144K, but that was several months ago. Z356

Why in the world would anyone want a lemon buy back car? I had a Range Rover Supercharged and the dealer bought it back from me because i went thru the steps of claiming it as a lemon. I feel bad for whoever bought that car. Buying these cars in a distressed situation/condition is foolish. Every time I took my RR in for service they claimed it was fixed. Time after time it was not. I'm not sure how a dealer has to disclose to the new buyer but if they claim it was a lemon buy back but all the bugs were fixed is just asking for problems...regardless of what you save.

It goes beyond someone not just wanting to pay the bill anymore. There are guidelines that declares the car a lemon. Not necessarily an easy process and it takes time to prove it. Trust me - if a dealer buys the car back there is something wrong with the car that just wasn't getting fixed after numerous attempts. You know how tight they are. Also, a repo auction car....probably beat to hell.

Some of these cars are bought back for silly issues that have nothing to do with the powertrain area of the vehicle. Could by electronic issues that get fixed once they are brought back to the manufacturer and fixed in house.

Powertrain buybacks would probably be a different story though.

However, as far as I know about the W221 are all electronic problems.
A lot of people facing some issue that are very frustracted
