Updated my 2007 command:Tons of new options!!
I have a 2007 S65 and I took it to my dealer and they updated my command system.
It allowed me to do Sooooo many more things.
1. Plays DVDs
2. An extra option in "map display" to let you see the screen in 3D
3. Adds a very cool traffic option so you can see traffic delays ahead of you
4. Allows you to browse through radio pre-sets with the steering wheel now
5. Added an item call the "symbols" option on the nav screen to view POI's around you quickly
6. Added quite a few nav options to make the command system better.
7. Updated the maps and POI's (Now my new neighborhood is on the map, Woot!)
VERY COOL GUYS... go get this done to yours. I called around to 6 different dealerships and they don't know how to do this. If anyone has questions on this update and patch to there command system I will give you my service advisors name in Utah. The cost was $220 bucks.
The traffic jam option alone is well worth it.

Navigation feature is RDS not SIRIUS: https://mbworld.org/forums/showpost....2&postcount=55
FYI
SIRIUS Traffic provides real-time information on accidents, traffic flow, construction, and road closures for only $3.99/month, when added to your existing SIRIUS Satellite Radio subscription. http://www.sirius.com/traffic
TeleAid Search and Send (Google/Yahoo) search for a destination online, and then send it right to your vehicle: http://www.searchandsend.com/SS_overview.html

As of 10/4/07 the current navigation update is MBUSA part # BQ 646 0231. For most if not all MY07 vehicles, you will need to update the Telematics system software for the navigation update to work properly. Here is the thing if you mention MBUSA DTB P-B-82.85/512d the Telematics update is free because the navigation DVD cannot properly load.
Purchase the navigation DVD then bring the vehicle in to service with the complaint that your navigation DVD will not load, mention the DTB, and the Telematics will be updated free. In addition, check with several dealerships to receive the lowest price on the navigation DVD.

I stated somewhere else that it isn't recommended anymore by MB because of a navteq issue. if you select fastest route it will take you straight through the city vs using the freeway and going around... to fix, command needs to be replaced. so when you are going through the hood in downtown Atlanta and see the freeway to your left... you have been updated!

Do you know if this upgrade is possible with a 2008 CL63.. The car was built in May 2007 and does not have these features? Does that mean I have the 07 software as well and can I purchase the disk and demand this upgrade?

2007 S600. 2005 Carrera GT. 2007 Range Rover SC. 2008 BMW X5. 1967 SS Chevelle.
I brought my 07 S600 in to Globe in NJ and they tell me that this does not apply to my car. I even gave them that part number above and he still insisted it is not for the 07 S600 ?
Anyone know if this is accurate?
THANKS

Tell them to read DTB P-B-82.85/592c OCT07 – page 3 specifically states applicable to all 216/221 models as of MY07 which of course includes your 221.176 (s600).

Thanks Trumpet and Konigster!!
Konigster, I will e-mail this info to my service advisor right away. I already e-mailed him earlier all the info I could get from you and trumpet's previous posts on these forums.
And to trumpet, yeah that sounds great and yes I think it'd be cool to meet up and compare notes sometime.
My service advisor is already probably fed up with me after my bombardment of requests for him to fix and/or check on various things like my A/C filter not filtering out bad smells properly, sizzling hot water dripping sounds from underneath the car after I stop, drive dynamic seat issues, rush of ammonia smells into the car whenever the windshield washer fluid is used, etc..

...
you know what frustrates me, the Navi in my gf's Acura TL ype R blows away that in my S550. It had this really neat Zagat feature which will give you a review of a restaraunt how the hell does acura manage this and MB cannot in a car triple the price. Not to meantion have you seen the steering wheel in those cars....it makes the steering wheel in even my SL look so dated. Im glad MB is offering to update the Navis on the 550s I definitley will be taking mine in soon

My internet connection is really lousy tonight so I apologize to some of you if you are getting redundant messages and I"M"s from me. I type up a response , click submit, and voila "page cannot be displayed" pops up and my internet connection is apparently out.
Anyway, I was at my dealership today and in the morning we are going to hopefully get this accomplished. Thanks to iluv2skiutah and konigster for all of the help. The techs were looking at this site with me in their office and I left with the hopes of getting this done in the morning.
I'll keep everyone briefed on how it goes.

Well it seems everything went very well. I now have the traffic info ability. I guess all I need to do now is contact SIRIUS radio for the upgrade. For those with prior experience with the traffic info feature, is their a message on the screen that lets you know whether or not your feature is active or not? I pushed down on the knob with "traffic" highlighted and it says no traffic message at this time. Since I don't have the 2008 manual, I'm not exactly sure how to operate this feature to the fullest. I'll look for a thread on this subject.

Please refresh my memory as to what RDS stands for. I assume the S stands for satellite? I'm sure the answer will make me feel stupid
So to get the traffic info I need to contact SIRIUS and request that upgrade to my existing subscription. Is that correct? Anyway, my salesman made a copy of the 3 or 4 pages of the 2008 model owner's manual that goes over the traffic update feature and I will pick it up next week and look it over and keep that in my current manual for future reference.
