The leds on the mirrors need power, they need wires and a control unit and the old door control unit does not seem to be capable of driving those leds. There is a 234 specific door control unit: A221 870 99 92.

The outside rear view mirror frame is different for 234: A221 810 07 76. I'm not sure if this is because of the mirror wiring harness being part of it.

Not impossible at all to change these parts but the cost from the control unit, frame and mirror glass would be a bit high relative to the gain from the leds. I would consider the feature useful without the leds but if it would only work with a new door control unit, I could consider changing that and perhaps even the other parts.

He either installs the warning light in the Rear View mirror, sets a light up somewhere in your dash. There is also an auditable sound that you can turn on or off...
