Congrats. The S550 is in a league of it's own compared to the dowdy lexus

Since your car is almost fully equipped I highly reccomend distronic. The price is lower for this option in 08 and it includes more features like par assist and blind spot assist. Also, the drive dynamic seats you have with p3 work together with presafe as you have distronic.

iam confused. at the web their r three diff blacks avail. maj black, obs black and black. what is the diff or if one is better than the other. i dont know which blk i have got. need help

Go to the dealer and have them give you color chips and examine the cars they have in stock.

Majestic black is a new black that was launced for 2008. Obsidian black is a metallic black. Black is flat black, has not metallic particles and shows swirls very easily.

Agreed. At least get obsidian or majestic. I have obsidian and no swirl marks even after 15 months. I'm sure majestic will be that way. Nano technology in those paints are awesome.

Addition to comments above....would def get ABC suspension....IMO, transforms the precision/handling/stability of S550....

Would consider AMG Sport pckge if needed to get perf tires std....as all-season tires usually depreciate steering/handling precision....

 

strange but the new 2008 S class catalogue does not show the obsidian choice . just black and maj blk. the latter is a little on the lighter side. ill check again with the sales guy.

mercedes has so many option choices, it is mind boggling. i have decided to limit myself to the options i have got before the price starts going north of 100.

Though you will want to add Distronic Plus. You will love it, trust me. I use it on my CL63 all the time here in ghetto Los Angeles/Orange County traffic.

 

obsidian was no longer available in oct 07 when I build mine. Just black and majestic. My dealer told me that osidian was dropped from the S class lineup for 08. Majestic is a bluish black (very popular in the 1980's S class). It is pretty much what black opal used to be.

I have no swirls so far on my black car. I had a 06 G500 in black and it showed no swirls either (this issue has gone after MB introduced nano tech paint).

My last black car was a 07 GL450 in obsidian and I have to say I like going back to the darker black. The oisidian felt like it looked dusty

 

i think u r right. maj black looks lighter to me, black is the way to go. guess Ill stay with the Blk/Blk combo
