Tire Pressure Monitor Question

I just bought an '08 S550 4matic. I'd like to run a 2nd set of 19" AMG wheels from time to time that do not have the tire pressure senders. Can this be done without a constant alarm at start up? I've called two dealers, one says it will alarm at start up every time, other says it won't because it looks for a pressure drop. Anyone know for absolute sure...getting ready to buy soon.

Thanks. Is the dealer the only option? Any idea on cost?

You don't need to buy anything. All you need to do is take the old sensors out of your original wheels and put them into your new AMG wheels. Your local tire shop should have no problem installing them for you or if your in the Burbank, Ca area we would be happy to do it for you. The sensor is actually attached to the valve stem. If you notice your valve stem is not your common flexible rubber stem. Behind that valve stem is a small square sensor. You may also want to pay attention to the location of each sensor. In other words don't mix them all up. Keep the left front in the left front and right rear in the right rear and so on. I'm not sure if your vehicle is sensitve to location or not but it's better to be safe. Keeping your original sensors will also keep you from having to reprogram them. Good luck.
