enable command DVD while moving for passanger
As I suspected, after doing this, nothing happens. No video in motion, not a thing on the comand system comes on in fact.
Daimler AG has achieved a crucial breakthrough in battery technology. The Stuttgart-based automaker is the world's first manufacturer to have succeeded in adapting lithium-ion technology to the demanding requirements of automotive applications. Until now, the technology has been used primarily in consumer electronics. The new battery will be used in the series-production S 400 BlueHYBRID beginning next year. This important technology was possible thanks to 25 patents held by Daimler.

LOL. You're right about those blue clips. That is what takes 50% of the time of installing.
Took me nearly 5 minutes to do it today

I'm sure their is a tool that makes it easy to release that tab while pulling the plug out. I finally used a broken off toothpick and pushed it into the releasing tab area to keep it pryed aside so that I could devote my fingers to pulling the connector out.
Very excited about upgrading my command to playing video DVD's and buying/installing the VIM. However, my Service advisor is playing very stupid with me about flashing my unit. He claims it can not be done and that he doesn't know anything about it. I am going to call the Service Manager tomorrow and put it on him. Can you guys give me some tips, specs, etc... so that I can get this done?
Thanks in advance,
Prio

The flash you are referring to, is it the one where you're trying to get an '08 model comand update? Is your car a 2007?
As far as any tips, their is a thread that explains which tech bulletin to refer to when talking with your advisor at the dealership. I'll try to find it for you.

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
Purchase the navigation DVD then bring the vehicle in to service with the complaint that your navigation DVD will not load, mention the DTB, and the Telematics will be updated free. In addition, check with several dealerships to receive the lowest price on the navigation DVD.
(Konigster originally posted the above info. Thanks to the work of Konigster, I got my advisor to do the 2008 model flash update).
The reason this is difficult for some of us is because this is not something they like to advertise. It is just forced upon them in a sense because they are selling the DVD which in turn creates a situation where they have to make it work, hence the update.

Thanks.
Called the Service Manager at Bill Ussery and followed your instructions. Supposedly it is in brain surgery right now getting flashed!! Ordering the VIM and will update you all on the procedure.
Cheers!!!
Now this is funny. After disconnecting my VIM module and re-connecting it as I was asked to do for experimental reasons, the "black out" problem has now been replaced by periodic and rare occurences of the backup camera coming on while driving down the road!!! It happens just as quick as the black out did and with the same random frequency....just a different problem. It happens so rare and so quick that I can barely catch it in action and since their is no audio dropout, it is really hard to notice
Again, such a small problem I'm not even going to think more of it. Just thought I would report it.On another note: I did get my tag (license plate) revenue notice today. $950 for tag renewal

Anyone want to report what they usually have to pay yearly for their license plate renewal???

Okay, there's something really wrong with that number. Where do you live?

I stopped into midcity yesterday to check on things for my wifes C-Class and I talked to Rob about the issue that you are having and showed him the thread and he related that it could be something different about your particular vehicle or it could be a loose cable but it was nothing to worry about. He said to call or email and they will send you another unit to try out.
On the subject of the plate renewal, I think my yearly fees are $250-ish and that includes the overpriced city sticker.
They have the assessed value set at $112K. Does that seem reasonable? I may could get that adjusted down because I bet I wouldn't get $90K for it on trade. I don't know how they achieve a value on a car like this in order to tax it.

Just renewed registration: $ 1885. "Value" set at approx. $105K. DMV here adjusts "value" from original base MSRP.
On the bright side, if there is one regarding taxes, is that we get to "write it off" on our Federal tax returns. Better than nothing.

Thanks for mentioning it to Rob for me. I'm so busy I can't ever find the time to sit down and call them.
Thanks again for helping me out!!!!

Just last night it did it while I was driving with no comand feature turned on at all. I was driving with no radio, video, navi on and the screen just blacks out for one second.
After a week I'll report back to let you all know if this problem disappears after rehooking things back up to factory.
If so, I may have to ask for a new VIM module as mine may be a bad one.
