Rancho Santa Fe, CA = New S Class Mecca

Incredible weekend with the family down at the Rancho Valencia Resort last weekend and was just staggered by the W221's all over the place in the area.

Must admit, after an entire weekend with a thousand of them and another thousand SL's surrounding me, I can say I really am loving this new style a LOT.

You SoCal guys are probably laughing, but as an out of towner, I was in shock.

Benz city and was loving it.

And SD (even RSF/LJ) is prob not a very remarkable S-Class epicenter vs NYC and other parts of CA....

Midtown Manhattan and UpperEastSide are awash in blk S550s, idling w/drivers waiting for owners, outside high-end apt bldgs, office bldgs, favored restaurants, private schools, etc...

Often have seen 4-6 blk/blk '07-'08 S65s (some w/driver, ala Manhattan) waiting outside/valet-parked in front of any of top 2-3 power restaurants in BeverlyHills corridor, esp on Sun-Wed eves....

'07-'08 blk S65s are rather common sights in certain office parks in SiliconValley....one office park pkg lot had several S65s (and two 599s) on a recent cloudy/drizzly wkday....

Clearly, S-Class (550 to 65) is a commonly favored car among those who likely can easily afford any car in world today....

lol...I was driving home from school for the weekend, trying to avoid the 56 and I took a shortcut(guessed and hoped for the best), that ended up being not that short and filled up at that station...3.59 a gallon for 87. They did have 100octane there though, didn't check how much it was...
