I can't help but notice they are still hanging onto the W220 interior design instead of going with the W221 look. Of course, why should they change it when only a very few will be sold.

I think it looks hideous- they should have found a better way to stow that top.
I guess it's all about exclusivity. Not sure I'd want to motor around topless in the Dubai sun but guess it's a good way to separate rich from super rich.

clearly people who get their hands on one of these probably already own (and are required to have) a Maybach currently...but given the price tag
I'd rather get myself a "plain old" 62s for less then one-third the price and still have money left over for an F430 spider or a Murcielago roadster...AND a RR drophead

Seems like ancient-tech stuff meant for 3rdWorld consumption....could be shrewd marketing move on part of MB, given it's an old-tech platform w/minimal R&D investment.....
Suspect its pattern of sales in US will be similar to that of Maybach....
Have examined/test-driven enough new Maybachs to find them to have laughable dynamics/tech/aesthetics/materials, even if cost is not a consideration....would much rather drive a new S65....

Just plan a quick wkend trip to BevHills or PebbBch around launch time....can easily get a test-drive, not just a ride....as a 600 owner, your dealer's referral to Maybach will ensure they keep you posted on timing of launch and test drives, etc

And the Maybach was really the first car to have the clamshell trunklid, NOT the BMW 7-series like so many assume. When the W221 S-Class came out, everyone said it copied the BMW "Bangle" trunk, but in reality Daimler showed the Maybach with this design feature back in 1998.
