Anyone Know if the 2008 S550 4Matic has the 7 Speed?
I looked on the mbusa website and it says that the s550 has the 7 speed, but the 4matic uses the 5 speed...is this true? All the articles i've read said the 4matic had the 7 speed...anyone know?

Mercedes Canada (which sells only 4matic Es and S's) are reporting 5 speed on the E's but 7 speed on the new C's and S's.
Mercedes brochure says 7 speed for S450 and S550 4Matic as well.

my 2007 s550 4matic has the 7 speed trans. i doubt that benzo would go 'backwards' and put a 5 speed in the 2008s. rest assured, chief, the 2008 4matic ,,, has a 7 speed.

^^^go to mbusa.com, then take your mouse and scroll over 'Models' on the top left...do NOT click, just highlight, then scroll down to 'Class Overviews'...this is the second choice in the list, right under 'See All Models', again do NOT click, just highlight...then a new box will expand and scroll down to 'S Class Overview'...now click on that...you will be taken to the S Class Overview page...under 2008 S550 Sedan it gives a description and says that the 4matic has a 5 speed.
To make this easier...here's the link.

The MBUSA website is one of the weakest car manufacturer web sites on the internet with frequent errors, omissions, and poor graphics. Check out Jaguar, Bentley, Maserati and Lexus among others, and you'll see vibrant colors, large pictures and vivid detail. The real irony here is that the "home office" of mercedesbenz.com features some very well done sites such as MB-Italy. By the way, it's not just MBUSA, as I noticed that the CL63 was missing from the AMG web site as an available model. Go figure !

MB has been redoing their international websites since they did the new brand design last year. I'm sure that the US, one of their most important markets, will not be far behind in a web redesign.
