don't forget key audible warning Question
Does any body know how to turn off the driver door open/ don't foget key audible warning?
The only annoying feature of this incredible car is as soon as I open the door ding.ding.ding. Its starting to dive me crazy. The visual window says do not forget key. Well no duh. But if I forget something else like my foglights are on I could and have ignored the audible warning because it is always on. The dealer says there is no way to turn off but I'm sure there has to be???

On my '06 Audi A8L there were a lot of programing options available to the (somewhat) brave at heart using a computer program and connector cable from a company called VAG-com. They were very highly thought of and their customer service was excellent. I have not heard of anything similar for the Mercedes.

I have the same annoyance in my car and read on another thread here that you can ask the dealer for an "IC Software Update". I think it said to complain about an intermitant instrument cluster problem like a flicker, and then they would automatically update the IC software which causes that annoying "Do not forget key" message to go out. Next time my car is at the dealership I will try it. But do let us know if you have this done and it works.

That chime can be removed as follows:

An instrument cluster (IC) software update might be needed:

To update IC software to current version: DAS – Information and Communication – IC Instrument Cluster (Central CAN Bus) – Control unit programming… - follow prompts to update software on the instrument cluster.
The dealer can remove this chime for you also. I told my SA it was in a sub menu under the chimes menu and they found it easily and did it for me at no charge. I cannot tell you how much nicer it is without that stupid chime.

My 2008 S has this as well. I searched the first thread and said it was an early 2007 S issue. I guess not... The dealer refuses to update software saying they could not find any error codes for anything

Years ago, we tried to have the dealer update the IC... they said there was no update etc. and that they could not remove the chime. This was at multiple dealerships. So, we finally gave up on it and have been living with it. Yes, VERY annoying.
I will try what bo_jangles recommended next time I take it in.
