Wiper blades
I just flipped over 25K miles on my wonderful S600 and my wiper blades are just now seeming to need changing. Does anyone know where to buy the new blades for our cars w/o having to go to the dealer?

I'd suggest asking your MB dealer if they switch the blades gratis in the first two years as part of the warranty. That is the case here in Canada and it should be the same in the U.S.
Also since 2004, the MB blades were changed to those heavy duty ones so I'd recommend no others. Even if they weren't under wty., that's probably the cheapest repair/expense you'll ever encounter with the S class.

I get my wiper blades changed every 6 months. I just paid $80 for the blades. I was told it was the entire blade that has to be replaced as the current blades do not have inserts.

Why do you change your blades so often? The rubber used in wiper blades has improved tremendously in the last few years. Do your old wiper blades show any sign of wear?

I was wondering the same thing. I've got 25K miles on my car and am just now noticing a slight skipping/stuttering effect of the blades across the windshield.

Well, after listening to you gentlemen, I will wait a bit longer. I never thought about the quality now vs in the past. I used to get tired of the streaking years ago, and decided I would avoid it happening by regularly changing my blades. I will take your advice to heart and hold off until needed, or at least wait a year. I just changed mine in June (I always changed June and December). Following your advice will certainly save me some money! Thanks.

My car is approaching 2 years age and I have original blades. I still would suggest other changing blades at least once a year.
There was a thread some time ago, I believe at the W211 forum where an expert explained that the washer detergent plays an important role. I've never used the MB stuff from the dealer and at winters we need to use some alcohol based add-ons to keep the washer fluid not freezing. I understood this is not good for the rubber blades while the OEM MB stuff keeps them in good condition. I would assume the same stuff is available from ordinary shops if one just knows what to ask and what to avoid.
Already cleaning the blades and the window properly helps a lot against wiper blade shudder.

Agreed. I need to take my wife's C class to the shop today anyway. She has lost both of her rear door unlocking pins (the little thing you pull up on to unlock the doors from inside). They seem to have gone cheapo on that item. I'll ask about the wiper blades at that time for my car.

, My blades didn't last long at all on previous cars. I can kind of see how you developed that pattern every 6-9 months of changing blades but I just realized that my car is 2 years old and still has good blades on them. Just now starting to notice a problem but even that is not really bad. When I hit the 30K mile service C, I'll change them then.
